♦ Need a Taxi?
“A Bloody Lucky Day” starts peacefully. What could be more peaceful than walking on the beach holding hands with the one you love and spending the day with your family? OK! So! It was a dream. But the dreams also included. When you dream about pigs, doesn’t that mean something good is going to happen? Uuuhh? That’s debatable. “Pigs in Dreams Meaning & Symbolism | Dream Guide Me”
Oh Taek is an AOCD (average ordinary cab driver). He has worked all day picking up and dropping off passengers and is about ready to end his work day when … Geum Hyuk-Soo, who looks like an AOG (average ordinary guy) asks the driver to take him to a remote city. He says he will pay him $1000.
$1000??!!!! It’s raining pigs!! LOL. The cab driver thinks it’s his lucky day because he will earn a lot for driving the passenger so far. However, his lucky day turns into a bloody lucky day because his passenger is a bloody dangerous individual.
- The passenger is a murderer trying to escape the long arm of justice and an angry mother who is chasing after him because he killed her son.
- If the taxi cab driver survives this harrowing experience, in the future, he will likely never accept a passenger who offers to pay him $1000 ever again!
Main Characters:
- Cab Driver Oh Taek (played by Lee Sung-min, “Shadow Detective”)
- Geum Hyuk-Soo (played by Yoo Yeon-seok, “Love, Lies”, “Mr. Sunshine”)
- Hwang Soon-Kyu (played by Lee Jung-Eun, “Daily Dose of Sunshine”)
Viewership and Rating:
- IMDb: 7.4 out of 10 stars
- My Drama List: 8.5 out of 10 stars
- Dramabeans: 8.6 out of 10 stars
- NME: 4 out of 5 stars
- Kyahaha: 2 out of 5 stars
My personal rating is 8 out of 10 stars. There seem to be quite a few Korean dramas that involves taxis. In real life, being a cab driver is not exactly the most thrilling or challenging job. Most ordinary drivers earn enough to pay bills and put food on their table. They rarely get a customer who wants to go on a long drive.
But if you are a good fictional scriptwriter you should be able to come up with an interesting storyline involving an ordinary driver and a passenger who either has a story to tell or has bad intentions.
“A Bloody Lucky Day” gets lumped in with other Korean dramas like “Taxi Driver (1 and 2)”, “Delivery Man”, and “Special Delivery”. People who make their living driving other people around don’t always know who their passengers will be. All the driver wants to do is pick up and drop off, and get paid. But passengers can turn a drab and dull duty into a difficult and dangerous duty.
