2017’s Awesome Games Done Quick Begins Today
Whoever you are, whatever you’ve got going on in your life, make sure you clear room in your schedule for some Awesome Games that are Done Quick. The world’s most fun-to-watch charity marathon is back for another week of live nonstop gaming, much of it filled with crazy sequence-breaking tricks and complicated glitches performed with the precision of an Olympic athlete (thumb-wise).
The Prvent Cancer Foundation is the recipient of the cash that will be generated by this marathon, as they have been in several Januarys past. In past marathons AGDQ has raised over a million dollars for the foundation; this year should be no different (but whether they pull it off or not is on you). Your donation dollar not only benefits the sick but can usually be used as a voting ballot to decide what name the players should call their characters in an upcoming game. Sometimes attractions and stunts will be offered as donation goals if a certain revenue number is hit by a deadline.
The full schedule can be browsed through here, and contains a lot of never-before-seen-at-GDQ titles. I’m disappointed at the lack of a Super Mario Maker tournament…it was the absolute highlight of the previous two marathons (besides Pepsiman) and I thought they would be making it a permanent thing. If you don’t know what you’re missing, this is what it was like last July.
Awesome Games Done Quick rests for no man, and odds are good you’ll miss some really great playthroughs (especially since some of the more interesting games are scheduled for the middle of the night). The GDQ YouTube archive preserves every minute eventually, but some of the videos take a while to show up (days in some cases). If the game you want to see isn’t there, surf through the direct unwieldy archive at Twitch.tv until you find it.

This is an awesome way to raise money for a very good cause. Great job to their creaters and hope this goes on for many years to come. This is the best way to begin a new year, by helping many survive. What more can we ask for Christmas than health, these games look so much fun and best part is one competes with others.
