The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Steelbook Cover Artwork Revealed
The release of the highly anticipated game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, was delayed another three months to May. However, the images of the steelbook covers for collector’s edition release of the game have made their way online (via Studio Kxx). The gorgeous new cover artwork could possibly satiate fans who are disappointed by the additional wait. That is unless the sight of the new cover artwork gets them so excited they are even more agitated by the longer wait. The covers were illustrated by artist Krzysztof Domaradzki and are truly a sight to behold. The images are available below.
The alternate covers for the steelbook case feature various characters of The Witcher lore and mythos, including: main protagonist Geralt of Rivia; the King of the Wild Hunt; Geralt’s lady loves Triss Merigold and Yennefer of Vengerberg; and Geralt’s adopted daughter, Ciri. CD Projekt Red recently revealed that Ciri will be the game’s second playable character.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been marred by numerous delays. The game was originally scheduled for a 2014 release, which later became February 2015. More recently, The Witcher 3’s release was pushed back another three months to May of this year. Considering how massive the game looks, it is not surprising the title needed extra time. 2014 saw the release of numerous titles that were broken at launch and likely needed additional polish time. Hopefully, in the case of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the longer wait will be worth it, and CD Projekt Red delivers a smooth, polished and immersive RPG experience that was initially promised.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the special Collector’s Edition are due out on May 19 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The special Collector’s Edition includes a statue of protagonist Geralt of Rivia, an artbook, the steelbook case, card decks, stickers, a cloth map and more. Players can order the special edition now at Amazon.
