Where’s That Robot Game Miyamoto Promised?

Back during E3 2014, when StarFox Zero was nothing more than a few tech demos, Shigeru Miyamoto showed the press two smaller game concepts he’d been tinkering with: Project Giant Robot and Project Guard. Project Guard was a game where you switched viewpoints between multiple cameras to prevent enemies from getting to the center of a maze — and it turned into StarFox Guard, which will be shipped with StarFox Zero this April. Project Giant Robot was a fighting game starring giant customizable giant robots battling each other in the middle of a city…and it has yet to turn up again.

Miyamoto was asked about the whereabouts of Project Giant Robot by Time. He said this:

Project Giant Robot was something we started as a second project, and unfortunately we haven’t yet decided to turn that into a full game.

Sometimes experiments lead places and sometimes they don’t. E3 2014 may be all we ever see of ‘Moto’s robot game experiment.
