The upcoming film is a 3D epic adventure following a world-colliding conflict and is based on Blizzard Entertainment’s longtime, globally renowned video game franchise. The Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment Production is directed by Moon and Source Code filmmaker Duncan Jones from a script by Jones and Charles Leavitt. The cast boasts Travis Fimmel, Ben Foster, Paula Patton, Ben Schnetzer, Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, Toby Kebbell, Robert Kazinsky, Clancy Brown, Anna Galvin, Daniel Wu.
Movies based on hit video game franchises often have a dirty and maligned history in Hollywood; even big budget productions with top level talent and production teams behind them. Legendary’s Warcraft seeks to break that chain, but only time will truly tell. Certainly, the image below of Orgrim from the Warcraft movie looks promising release and shows how far motion capture technology for cinema is coming these days.
