Unravel Set for February 2016 Release
Electronic Arts and Coldwood Interactive officially announced today that the new puzzle and platform game, Unravel, has received an official release date. The new game is scheduled for a digital release in February 2016 for Origin for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In addition, EA released a new story trailer for the game, which you can check out below.
Unravel was initially revealed at E3 2015 during the EA showcase presentation. The game stars Yarny, a tiny and new character who is made out of a single thread of yarn. Yarny goes on an adventure to reconnect the bonds of love. The platform game features a physics-based system.
Speaking on the news released today for the game, Coldwood Creative Director Martin Sahlin stated: “Gaming is a powerful platform, able to inspire players and touch their hearts. With Unravel, we’re hoping to do just that. Yarny’s quest is to mend broken bonds and the yarn represents the love and connection between people. Along the way, we’ll test your cleverness with environment-based puzzles inspired by our home in Northern Sweden.”
In Unravel, Yarny has to overcome obstacles, both big and small. Yarny travels through various environments of Northern Scandinavia and will face various challenges. Some of his challenges are simple, like using thread to swing across a gap, or rappel down a tree. Other challenges are more complex, and players will need to use Yarny’s thread in creative ways to figure out how to move forward. EA and Coldwood are promising that the game will have a heartfelt story about love and longing, and the ties that bind.
Unravel will be available on February 9, 2016. The game will be available for $19.99 in North America. EA Access members can play the game before February and get a 10 percent discount on the full game, but only on Xbox One.
