Uncharted 4 Getting Open Beta This Weekend
Players who want an early crack at Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’s multiplayer mode are in luck. It looks like there will be an open beta version for the game later this weekend. A user on NeoGAF spotted the listing before it was quickly removed. According to the listing, the game will have an open beta session that will run from March 4-6.
The listing for the beta popped up on the German PlayStation Store. Per the listing, the Uncharted 4 open multiplayer beta will feature team deathmatch mode and will be playable on three different maps. The file size for the beta is listed as 10.3 GB.
The previous Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta was available last December for players who purchased Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. Naughty Dog and SCEA have not yet officially announced the plans for an open beta. Previously, Naughty Dog reportedly said (via Gamespot) that there were no plans for an open beta session, but it looks like those plans have now changed.
An open beta over a month ahead of the release seems to be a great way to build hype and anticipation for the game. The open multiplayer beta session for Uncharted 3 did very well for that game, along with the Subway promotions, so players could earn some various extras and bonuses for the beta. In addition, the progress for that beta carried over to the game at launch. This will be a great way for players to get an early chance to get their hands on the game. It’s always better to give players a better idea of what they are buying and investing their money in. Even great publishers and developers have released disappointing products from time-to-time. An open beta could be a nice showing if the game is as great as advertised.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is due out on April 26. The game will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
