Transformers: Galactic Trials Announced For Consoles And PC

Transformers have existed for forty years now, and video games based on the toys and surrounding mythology have been around for just as long. Outright Games and Hasbro have just announced the next chapter in the tradition: Transformers Galactic Trials.

Transformer games have covered many genres, but Galactic Trials is a mashup of several: mainly a racing game, it also takes in elements of the adventure and roguelite genres. When the evil Nemesis Prime steals the Prime Relics, the situation requires the Autobots and Decepticons to team up, and you’ll be able to play as characters from both sides in a fast-paced race to get the relics back.

Your goals in each circuit are two-fold: one, finish first, and two, take down your opponents along the way. The relics you recover will allow you to upgrade your character and take on greater challenges. Two game modes are available: the main mode, Galactic Trials, is single-player, while Arcade mode supports multiplayer (it’s only local, not online) on tracks you can customize.

“It has been a pleasure to continue our collaboration with Hasbro and return to the world of Transformers,” said Stephanie Malham, Managing Director of Outright Games. “With 2024 marking the 40th anniversary of this iconic IP, we are very excited to be releasing the first ever console racing video game in the franchise’s history. With the inclusion of rogue-lite elements, Transformers: Galactic Trials’s gameplay complements the dynamic Transformers robots.”

  • Speed into a new unique hybrid gameplay experience of action-packed racing and rogue-lite combat elements

  • Play as iconic AUTOBOT and DECEPTICON characters to customise the gameplay experience

  • Progress through the Galactic Trails in single player mode, and invite a friend for local multiplayer in Arcade mode’s racing adventure

Transformers: Galactic Trials will be released October 11 for Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, XBox One and PC.

Not impressed after seeing the graphics, I’m a bit let down. The gameplay sounds fun with the mix of racing and roguelite elements, but visually, it just looks outdated. It’s 2024, and this game looks like it belongs on older consoles. For a franchise as big as Transformers and considering it’s the 40th anniversary, I expected more polish and better visuals. I hope they improve this before the release because right now, it feels like a missed opportunity to really wow the fans.

"Seriously? Transformers is supposed to be one of the most badass franchises ever, and this is the best they can come up with? I was hyped for Galactic Trials, but after seeing what they’ve shown, it feels like a letdown. The graphics look last-gen, and I expected way more from a game celebrating the 40th anniversary. I know the gameplay has potential with the racing and roguelite mix, but it’s hard to get excited when the visuals look outdated. For such an iconic series, this feels like a missed opportunity."

Yikes, the Transformers community needs some justice in the game department, dude. We deserve games like War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron again. Those were epic and truly captured the essence of the franchise. How long is it gonna take before someone realizes that? I get that they’re trying something new with Galactic Trials, but the graphics look last gen and I’m not convinced it’ll live up to those classics. Here’s hoping we eventually get the quality Transformers game we’ve been waiting for.

You know, a Battle Royale game with Transformers could actually be pretty cool. I don't know all the details, but it sounds like it could be fun, especially if it’s not too expensive. I’ve seen people mention that bringing back games like Fall of Cybertron or War for Cybertron would get a lot of attention. If they did that, then maybe they could work on something new with a bit more effort and passion. It’d be awesome to see a Transformers game that really stands out.

Transformers: Galactic Trials is an eyesore. The graphics are downright ugly and look like they belong on a console from ten years ago. It's embarrassing that a game releasing in 2024, especially one celebrating 40 years of Transformers, looks this bad. The visuals are so bad that it’s hard to take the game seriously. For a franchise this big, delivering such low-quality graphics is unacceptable. They’ve really dropped the ball here, and it’s a shame because fans deserve better.

This sounds like it could be a lot of fun, especially the competitive aspects. I love racing games, and the added twist of combat and roguelite elements sounds like it’ll add a lot of depth to the gameplay. I’m also excited about the customization and upgrades – it’s always satisfying to improve your character and see the results in the game. The local multiplayer mode sounds perfect for some friendly competition with my friends.

Why don’t we have a Transformers game that really dives into the full story yet? I’m more interested in waiting for the new Transformers shows on Netflix. We need to bring back the classic animated series that started it all and make more seasons because it left so many questions unanswered. Honestly, that old series was way better than the new one coming out on Nickelodeon. It had more depth and really captured the essence of Transformers.

This is incredible news! As someone who’s been a Transformers fan since the beginning, I’ve played a lot of Transformers games over the years, but this one sounds like it’s really shaking things up. The idea of a racing game with adventure and roguelite elements is something I’ve never seen before, and I’m really excited to see how it plays out. The local multiplayer mode is a nice touch too – perfect for some nostalgic couch gaming with my buddies. Really looking forward to seeing how this game honors the 40th anniversary of the franchise.
