The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Will Have Zero Loading Screens
As if the excitement level for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was not high enough already, CD Projekt RED dropped another amazing fact about the game recently. Once you purchase The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, players will discover the game will have zero loading time. Speaking to Gamespot, CD Projekt RED developer and environment artist Jonas Mattsson revealed the amazing feature.
However, there are some exceptions to the rule. It apparently involves a location surrounded by water, and it is far away from the rest of the open-world sandbox depicted in the game. According to Mattsson, “Exactly. Kaer Morhen [a region to the north]. That’s a separate small level as well there. But on the full open world, there’s no loading time. You can travel and roam around as you wish.”
Mattsson added: “No, there’s no loading times. Only when you actually start the game, when you die and load the game, or when you fast travel. That fast travel loading time depends on how far you have to travel of course. If you just fast travel a little bit, it’s a really short loading time. For us, that was really important. I think we achieved that because, as you said, just going in and out of a building, there’s no loading time. Nothing. It’s just creates this really nice experience.”
OK, so there are some cheats by CD Projekt RED on that “no loading times” expression. When you start or load up the game, there is a load time, when you die there is a loading or during fast travel. Load times for those parts of the game makes sense. But to play such an immersive RPG with virtually no loading screens will be a welcome gameplay experience.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is due out on May 19. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
