The Walking Dead: Surrounded Card Game Now Available

Button Shy Games has announced a partnership with Skybound Tabletop to introduce The Walking Dead: Surrounded, a new card game themed around the comic book series for one to four players.

During each game, players are given a scenario and must work toward fulfilling those conditions while fighting to stay alive, because they’re being hunted by a massive horde of Walkers! They’re everywhere, and it’s up to you to find someplace safe. Each player will draw one card every turn — one side contains a location, which will be added to the game map, The other side introduces new faces; but whether they’re friendly or happen to be more Walkers is up to chance.

The human members are called Occupants and drawing their cards helps fortify your defenses. Place them around the Walker cards to keep the Walkers from advancing. Once the scenario’s goals are fulfilled, the game is over.

“As the home of The Walking Dead, Skybound is always looking for unique ways to expand the property with exciting new modes of entertainment,” says Garima Sharma, VP of Licensing & Partnerships at Skybound. “Button Shy Games’ new card game packs a big punch in a small package and we can’t wait for players to experience the world of The Walking Dead in Surrounded.”

Though The Walking Dead: Surrounded has just been released, there’s already a 6-card expansion subtitled Under Siege that adds new mercenary Occupants, Locations, scenarios and scoring conditions. Both are available now for $12 and $4 respectively.

I'm constantly look for new tabletop games, and The Walking Dead: Surrounded got my attention. The idea of drawing cards that might either aid or hinder your progress seems like it would keep each game session interesting and unpredictable. It appears to be an excellent approach to translate the series' intensity and atmosphere into a new medium. I've never played a Button Shy game before, but I've heard positive things about their other offerings. At $12, it appears to be a reasonable price for what may be a lot of fun. I'm curious if anyone has tried it yet; how is the replayability?

I love that Skybound is finding new ways to expand The Walking Dead universe. As someone who enjoys both card games and the series, "Surrounded" seems like a perfect match. The cooperative element of working with other players to survive the Walker horde while also achieving specific goals sounds like it would lead to some intense and memorable game sessions. The unpredictability of whether you'll draw helpful Occupants or more Walkers adds a layer of suspense that I think fans of the show and comic will appreciate. I’m definitely adding this to my game collection!

This game seems like a great way to bring The Walking Dead to life in a new format. I've always enjoyed games that require strategic thinking and teamwork, and "Surrounded" seems to have both. The idea that each card draw can significantly alter the course of the game adds a nice element of unpredictability. Plus, the fact that it's designed for one to four players means it's versatile for different gaming situations. The expansion pack is also a nice touch, providing more content right off the bat. Looking forward to trying it out and seeing how it captures the essence of the series!

This sounds like a cool, quick game for Walking Dead fans! One to four players is perfect for a casual game night with friends. The scenario element adds some replayability, and I love that there's already an expansion available for more variety. Having to manage both finding safe locations and recruiting survivors sounds like a fun challenge. Button Shy makes great games, so I'm interested to see how this one plays. Definitely going to check it out!

I’m really impressed by the concept of The Walking Dead: Surrounded. It seems to offer a good balance of strategy, chance, and thematic immersion. The price point is very accessible, and the quick setup and playtime are huge pluses for someone with a busy schedule like mine. I’ve played other games from Button Shy, and they often manage to pack a lot of depth into small packages. The expansion pack being available from the start is also appealing, as it shows the developers are committed to enhancing the game’s longevity.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first heard about The Walking Dead: Surrounded, but after reading more about it, I'm pleasantly surprised. The mix of location and Occupant cards sounds like it will keep each game session unique and challenging. The collaborative aspect of defending against Walkers while working towards the scenario’s goals could make for some intense gameplay. Plus, the fact that there's already an expansion available suggests there's more content to keep things interesting. At such a reasonable price, I think it’s definitely worth checking out. Curious to hear others' experiences with it!

The Walking Dead: Surrounded sounds like an interesting twist on cooperative deck-building games. The whole "building your safe zone" aspect is a cool idea, and the constant threat of walkers adds tension. The small size and price point are also a plus – perfect for travel or a quick game on the go. I wonder how strategic it gets – can you plan ahead, or is it more luck-based? Either way, it sounds like a fun addition to my game collection.
