The Time Traveler’s Wife HBO Max remake
The Time Traveler’s Wife is Audrey Niffenegger‘s best-selling novel that amazed critics and audiences back in 2003. After selling 2.5 million copies, Warner Bros. Pictures Adapted it into a Motion Picture in 2009. Its movie adaptation stars Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, a success. Investment is worth it because it made $101.3 million at the box office for a small budget. There is even an upcoming Broadway Musical adaptation, but it is still in development. A new generation will get to see this story again in more intimate detail as HBO Max will now adapt it into a Television show. Novels translate better in TV shows because a chunk of the story gets spliced in movie adaptation to fit a 90 minute run time.
The Time Traveler’s Wife
Clare Abshire (Rose Leslie) has known Henry DeTamble all her life. He is an unwilling time traveler who always gets teleported to different events of her life. She first met him when she was a little girl, and then he disappeared. Henry(Theo James) has a rare condition called Chrono-Impairment, A condition that makes him travel time without his control. He cannot choose Where and When he will end up, but he always ends up meeting Clare. He first met Clare when he was 20 years old, and he met a 28-year-old Clare who told him she had known him all her life. Their unusual situation leads to a friendship because no one else can understand them but each other.
In Clare’s perspective, she met Henry in different stages of her life. Sometimes the Henry she meets is younger, while sometimes he is older. Clare and Henry will become more than Friends and develop a romance despite their weird situation. Clare decided to become the Time Traveler’s Wife and marry him even though he randomly disappeared into a pile of clothes and she had to wait for him to come back again. The Time Traveler’s wife will come to HBO Max this May.

Hey, that is the guy from the Divergent movies. He aged fast that I didn’t recognize him right away.

I’m interested to see if Clare has any personality aside from worrying about her spouse. And if Henry has any character at all, it is to pout into the distance and vanish. It worked as a movie because they condensed it in an hour and a half, but I am not sure if this will work as a TV show because things might get repetitive.

It’s a good thing they remade it.
The book was fantastic, but the first film adaptation did not credit it.
Hopefully, with HBO’s support, they’ll be able to stay closer to the book.
Rose Leslie has a great American accent; I grew up watching her at Downton Abbey, and it’s nice to see her as an American.
I enjoyed the film with Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, but I believe Rose and Theo will bring a new perspective to the story, which will be more fulfilling.

Hollywood is running out of ideas. 2009 is so recent and now they are remaking this? Why can’t they find new ideas?

You don’t have to watch if you don’t like it.

I am sure we will get to know them better on this new iteration. I wish they will adapt the sequel too because the book actually have a sequel.

I cried like a baby when I watched the original. One of the best romance films ever and I will watch this one too because I want to see more about the world of Clare and Henry. Maybe they can finally explain why he was that way.

Time Travel is one of my ultimate fantasy but not that way. I want to have control on when and where I will go. I will definitely give this a try.
