The Ship Of Heroes Character Creator Beta Test Has Begun
Ship of Heroes is an upcoming MMO that resembles City of Heroes, except it takes place on a ship. You ride the ship to various locales, beat up the bad guys in every city, and then travel to the next one. Ship of Heroes has been conducting alpha and beta tests since 2017, and today, their most important test to date commences: the Character Creator Beta.
This Beta is accessible to anybody who donated at least $50 to the project before October 15. What can you expect if you meet that requirement? The dev team shared with us their latest notes and observations:
-
The Ship of Heroes team is answering a question that comes up in their forums and social media: just how much can I change my character’s physical size and proportions? The SoH CCT allows an enormous range of silhouettes. Players can directly control fourteen sets of morphs (plus height) to either bulk their characters up or slim them down, including precise morphs for parts of the body like the legs, arms, or chest. Costumes and hair models adjust automatically to look good with the morphed figure. The result is impressive.
-
The ability to customize the silhouette of each player’s character was one of the most frequently requested features in the SoH CCT alpha in 2017. The devs have followed through with a remarkable level of avatar morphing, as you’ll see in the video.
-
Looking at the same character, morphed to be skinny or muscular or somewhere in between is kind of fun. But be sure to turn the character around look at the back. In-game you’ll be looking at that behind for a long time.
-
In addition to the body morphs, Ship of Heroes allows players an unprecedented amount of power to customize the faces, skin tones, and features of their characters. This system is definitely a huge step up from games like City of Heroes and Star Wars: The Old Republic. With this system, no two superheroes aboard the generation ship FHS Justice need to look alike.

The character creator Beta will begin November 1st, and will last for a week. Participants will be able to take their newly-created characters into the game world and explore the first zone, Apotheosis City. The devs expect several hundred supporters to try out their artistic toolkit, and they have also planned a couple of events to occur in-game during the Beta.
Following the character creation beta test will be the combat beta test, and if all goes smoothly, the official launch for Ship of Heroes will happen in 2020. Those who don’t have access to the beta can at least check out the latest behind-the-scenes video below…
