The Results From The Ship Of Heroes Invasion Test

Late last month, the superhero-based MMO Ship of Heroes conducted what it called a series of “Invasion Tests.” At certain points, the game was dumped with as many enemies as the server could possibly handle. Because a high volume was needed to properly judge how well the game would hold up under such conditions, this was the first Ship of Heroes beta test that everyone was allowed to join.

Ship of Heroes conducted three of these Invasion Tests over several Saturdays. They’re now in the process of revising the game based on the data collected, but overall, they say the test went smoothly and there should be no delays for the launch in a few months.

“Enabling big battles is one of the most technically challenging features for MMOs,” states the notes provided by Heroic Games. “One of the things that the devs are showcasing in the invasions is that most of the powersets planned for the launch at the end of the year are already in the game, and they are working well. This is a good sign.”

“One of the interesting things we saw in these invasions is the first appearance of something akin to a raid boss: an alien known as the Nagdellian Berserker who needs to be fought by at least thirty heroes to be defeated. The Berserker’s difficulty also rises as the number of players nearby increases.”

There are still more tests that need to be done…Heroic plans to hold the next one sometime in November. Ship of Heroes itself is expected to reach a completed state either at the end of 2020 or early 2021.
