The Empress has been given the green light to begin a second season. The series was intended to be a limited series, but fans couldn’t get enough of watching this true to life drama of rebellious Princess. This could be German Actress Devrim Lingnau‘s ticket to international stardom.
This biographical series focuses on the life of Elisabeth von Wittelsbach. She previously held the titles Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary. Emperor Franz Joseph I was supposed to marry her older sister, but he ended up falling in love with her instead. Her husband’s mother disliked her because, unlike most princesses, she was not considered ladylike. Despite the fact that people considered an Emperor’s wife should fit a certain mold, The empress rebelled and overcame the obstacles and became one of the most popular Empress consorts in the dual Kingdom. She was one of the House of Wittelsbach’s most beloved Empresses.

The Windsors of Great Britain are often regarded as the world’s most popular royal family. “The Crown,” which launched in 2017, is one of Netflix’s most commercially successful shows. The death of Queen Elizabeth II contributed to the rise in interest in this subject too. Given that Season 6 of The Crown will be the show’s final season, it’s possible that Netflix thought The Empress would be a suitable replacement.
There are still many unexplored lore about the Empress Elizabeth. Bridgerton and Young Royals are two more monarchy-themed dramas streaming on Netflix. Bridgerton‘s more fantasy elements, which allow for a more diverse cast, mean that the show is not historically accurate. Young Royals is a completely made-up television show.
There is no specific date for the second season of the Empress yet. I wonder if there will be a time skip to where the first season left off.
