The Nintendo Direct for August showed up early this morning. We were about due for another Indie World and another Third-Party Showcase, so Nintendo just combined them both together in one gigantic presentation. The result was that there was way more than we can possibly cover in one post and some of these things will probably get more in-depth articles a bit later. But for now, here are the biggest announcements in order of release date:
Pizza Tower — today
To everyone who has wondered why the Wario-inspired Pizza Tower game still isn’t on Switch — including myself — we can all stop wondering. The game surprise-launched digitally on Switch right after the presentation. Now how about a physical collectors edition with a plush The Noise or something?

Castlevania Dominus Collection — today
We’re eating good! In addition to Pizza Tower we’ve also been surprise-gifted this collection of the three DS Castlevania games: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia, plus the original “Haunted Castle” arcade game as a bonus. This is another thing we need a physical version of.
Yakuza Kiwami — October 24
Guess what — for the first time in years, the Switch gets a Yakuza / Like A Dragon game! It must not be very processor heavy. This is a remake of the first Yakuza game ever released, and stars a protagonist who has been in jail for the last ten years (he’s innocent) and has to re-adjust to society after missing much of the 1990s.
Tetris Forever — 2024
This is cool: a Tetris retrospective that packs in versions of the game across multiple generations, from 8-bit to present day. Sure, it’s pretty much the same game over and over, but no matter who you are, you have a specific version of Tetris you’re attached to. And they included Hatris!
Suikoden 1 and 2 — March 6, 2025
Oh, HERE’S that remake of Suikoden we were promised years ago. These games, originally released for the PS1 in the late 90s, are absurdly expensive and we’ve needed a re-release for a long time. The actual title is “Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster: Gate Dawn and Dunan Unification Wars” and it’ll come with QOL improvements like a speed-up-battle button.
The Legend Of Heroes: Trails In The Sky The 1st — 2025
What the heck? Nintendo barely even mentioned this game no one knew about, only promising a vague “sometime next year” release. The original Trails In The Sky can currently only be played on PC (unless you still have a PSP and a physical copy). This is huge; why skip it over, Nintendo?
