The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself is coming to Netflix. This fantasy series is an adaptation of Half Bad  by Sally Green.

More languages have been translated into this book than any other book, including children’s books, setting two records in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Young Adult novels nearly never have successful box office runs in the movies, but they often have successful TV adaptations. This is due to the fact that an episodic structure makes it easier to flesh out the lore. Set in a modern version of Europe, witches and common people cohabit in the story’s parallel past. In the mythology of the story, there are two different types of witches: Black Witches and White Witches. In contrast to White Witches, who are viewed as the good ones, Black Witches, who are frequently viewed as evil. The reason is because practice dark magic. The main character is identified as being of Caucasian descent in the book; yet, she is depicted as having mixed racial heritage in the television adaptation; this change is explained.

Nathan Byrn (Jay Lycurgo) is an outcast in the society of witches. His white witch mother lost her life to give birth to him. He doesn’t know much about his mother because he never had the chance to spend much time with her. He attributes all of his problems in life to his father, Marcus Edge (David Gyasi).

Nathan, age sixteen, is the unacknowledged offspring of the most feared witch in the world. He’s being watched over his entire life for possible dangerous tendencies inherited from his father. However, as things heat up, the lines between “good” and “bad” begin to blur, and Nathan will learn what kind of person he really is.

Will Nathan go to the Dark side where is father came from or will he be the one to stop him?

I'm extremely happy they changed the show's name and didn't use the book's title because this doesn't resemble it at all and will be cancelled after one season.

Can we perhaps have some fresh material because this seems stale and worn out? How about a tale of a young person who appears to be leading a typical life, attending school, interacting with family and friends, and enjoying everyday activities. However, every night when he goes to sleep, a different soul enters his body and has until dawn to make amends for a wrong and reach heaven. The worst part is that the young person is unaware of this. I appreciate that the guys are also referred to as witches rather than any irrelevant term like warlock or wizard. Male witchcraft practitioners would regard themselves as wizards and not witch.

I feel bleak about the future of this show because Netflix likes canceling so much.

Also the added unnecessary wokeness got its days numbered.

It appears to be a good show. However, I worry that it will be canceled after one or two seasons. In order to avoid being emotionally invested in any characters, I'll do my best to avoid watching any of the wonderful shows on Netflix.

Lord, please don't let them try to wrap up the entire plot in one film. I will cry even harder than I did while reading the book if they don't end it way it ended in the book. The conclusion was too lovely and tragically sweet to be changed. I can accept adjustments, like how a white character like Nathan was made black, but I can't accept cancellations and rushed adaptations.

This is hopefully one of the recent smashes released by Netflix. I'm not good with this was the first scene that came to me... A precious diamond with such potential... This is good, but I worry that the series will be canceled.

That trailer closely resembles a satire of a typical Netflix Young Adult series. Graphic violence, teen romance, gay teen romance, fantasy elements, family conflict, and a protagonist on a self-discovery journey with a revelation are all present. It appears to have been created by a computer Algorithm.Netflix already made shows like this before.
