Streets of Rage 4 is out! This critically praised revival of the brawler franchise contains plenty of new rockin’ melodies, but also a few classics. If you’ve been playing the retro soundtrack and you wish you could hear it more often, good news….the songs from Streets of Rage 1 and 2 will be rereleased soon, and not just digitally.
It’s been ages since the classic 16-bit beat-em-up series Streets of Rage got any love. But all that’s about to change as Dotemu, Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games release Streets of Rage 4. And we learned today that the new installment will pay tribute to its origin era in a big way.
Sega founded a production company called Stories International in 2011 with the intended goal of turning their game properties into movies. So far their only lure that caught a lunker was Shinobi, which producer Mark Pratt purchased the rights to. Now Streets of Confusion, the outfit that makes Fear The Walking Dead and Powers, may be interested in movie-fying Altered Beast and Streets of Rage, two ancient beat-em-ups from the Genesis era. What these proposed movies would be like is anybody’s guess; neither game had much of a storyline.
