Korean Peninsula (2012): Imagine a Unified Korea
‘Korean Peninsula’ (aka “Hanbando”) was released in 2012, has 18 episodes, and is categorized as an Action and Political Thriller. This series may have underperformed (by Korean viewing audience standards) but the lead actor gave a stellar performance. As a US viewer, for me, this K-drama series is a hidden gem. ♦ Can Science Serve to Keep a Reunified North and South Korea United? In ‘Korean Peninsula’, North and South Korea have reunited as one country. Seo Myung-joon is a South Korean scientist who became the president of a reunified Korea. He took over the job when the president who was serving ended up in the hospital and could no longer perform his official duties. Before Seo Myung-joon became the president he was a scientist working on a joint project with North Korean scientists to develop an alternative energy source. Lim Jin-jae was a North Korean scientist and they fell in love. The politicians running for office were the “imaginary kind”. You know? The kind that you wish were real.
