Games Done Quick just released their full schedule for the Summer Games Done Quick Event….but it seems like we just got into spring. Isn’t it a bit early for this? Kinda, but the reason is the event itself is also being held prematurely. The festivities will start in late May, the earliest the “Summer” GDQ has ever been held.
GDQ has yet to reveal why this year’s SGDQ is happening so early (it won’t technically be summer!) but getting to all those speedruns quicker than usual is fine with us. Games Done Quick’s bi-annual marathons gather together the top speedrunners from around the country and set them to work demolishing all your favorite games in the name of charity. Viewers can donate cash to enter for prizes, vote in polls, and sponsor bonus runs. As always, the summer version of this event benefits Doctors Without Borders.
And we’ve got some good runs coming. Highlights include a blindfolded speedrun of Breath of the Wild, an eight-per-team Super Mario Maker 2 relay race, a glitchless Elden Ring run, the entire Elder Scrolls Anthology on PC, and Ring Fit Adventure (somehow).
Summer Games Schedule 2023 Full Schedule

The Silly Block Done Quick is also back with entries like Hobo Cat Adventures and Give Me Toilet Paper! Note that Tears of the Kingdom will be out by the time this marathon happens, but it’ll be too early for inclusion….but in its honor, GDQ promises to speedrun more Zelda games than usual.
This WILL be an in-person, live event after AGDQ 2023 was shifted to online-only due to mistakenly booking the event in Florida (because it’s Florida). This year SGDQ will be held at the Hilton Minneapolis in Minnesota, so if you can make it, check it out….otherwise everyone else can watch Summer Games Done Quick 2023 live on Twitch. It runs from May 28 to June 4.
