Capcom unveiled the Year 4 DLC lineup for Street Fighter 6 during Summer Game Fest 2026, and it immediately became one of the most talked-about reveals in recent fighting game memory. The season introduces three original fighters alongside one long-requested guest character from outside the franchise.
The Year 4 roster features Yasmine, Arjun, Bosch, and Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII. Yasmine launches first on August 3, 2026, followed by Arjun in Autumn 2026, Tifa in Early 2027, and Bosch in Spring 2027.
While the guest appearance naturally grabbed headlines, Capcom’s strongest statement this year is its continued push for brand-new characters.
Yasmine leads the Year 4 lineup as a high school girl from the Philippines searching for her missing brother. Outside of combat, she appears shy and reserved, but she becomes focused and confident once she enters a fight.
She practices Eskrima, a Filipino martial art, but instead of the traditional stick-based approach, she fights with a karambit knife. Her techniques emphasize speed, pressure, and close-range aggression, suggesting a fast-paced rushdown archetype.
Her story gives the roster another internationally grounded fighter and highlights a fighting style rarely represented in mainstream games.
Street Fighter already has Dhalsim, but Arjun takes the concept in a completely different direction.
Arjun is a former Indian police officer who was dismissed after being accused of a crime he did not commit. He now travels to uncover the truth behind the case that destroyed his life.
His fighting style is based on yogic breathing techniques, but unlike Dhalsim’s flame-based abilities and extreme reach, Arjun appears to focus on wind and pressure-based attacks. He is also physically large and heavily built, giving him a very different presence compared to Dhalsim.
Where Dhalsim stretches space, Arjun seems built to compress and explode it.
Bosch’s inclusion is a major moment for World Tour players.
Players first meet Bosch at the start of Street Fighter 6’s World Tour mode as a fellow student of Luke. He and the player’s avatar begin their training journey together, forming a friendship that quickly turns into rivalry as their paths diverge.
Throughout World Tour, Bosch becomes one of the central figures in the story, eventually getting caught up in events involving Nayshall and Psycho Power. His role makes him one of the most important original characters introduced in Street Fighter 6.
Capcom has now confirmed Bosch as a playable fighter in Year 4, though his exact fighting style remains unconfirmed. In World Tour, he uses techniques inspired by Luke and later shows signs of Psycho Power influence, leaving his final gameplay direction open-ended.
His transition from story character to roster fighter makes him one of the most natural expansions of the World Tour cast.
The biggest spotlight of the reveal belongs to Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII.
Tifa has long been one of gaming’s most recognizable martial artists, making her a natural fit for a hand-to-hand fighting game like Street Fighter 6. Capcom and Square Enix have confirmed she was rebuilt specifically for SF6’s gameplay system, ensuring her moveset fits a 2D competitive fighting environment.
Developers also hinted that elements inspired by Final Fantasy VII’s Materia system may influence her mechanics.
Her announcement immediately lit up the fighting game community.
For years, Tekken fans have asked for Tifa to appear as a guest fighter. Whenever Bandai Namco revealed crossover content, social media repeated the same request.
Tekken 7 got Noctis from Final Fantasy XV.
Tekken 8 got Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI.
And Tifa kept showing up in wishlists, memes, and fan rosters that never came true.
Now she has finally arrived in a major fighting game.
Just not the one Tekken fans have been emotionally preparing for since roughly the PS3 era.
Somewhere out there, a Tekken player is loading up the trailer again, questioning their life choices while holding back tears and buffering another “Tifa for Tekken” post.
Capcom confirmed that World Tour will not receive additional DLC character support beyond Ingrid.
This does not mean the mode is being removed. Players can still explore World Tour, complete its story, and revisit its content at any time. However, new fighters will no longer receive dedicated World Tour missions, mentor interactions, or story expansions.
Instead, Capcom is introducing Avatar Arcade mode as the new way for players to unlock and learn techniques from Year 4 characters. This system allows avatars to access fighting styles from new DLC fighters without requiring additional World Tour content updates.
The shift marks a structural change in how Street Fighter 6 delivers post-launch content. World Tour remains intact as a complete experience, but future development focus moves away from expanding it further.
While Tifa dominates most of the attention, Year 4 stands out for another reason: Capcom is betting heavily on original characters.
Outside of guest fighters, most DLC additions so far have leaned on returning characters or legacy names. Year 4 breaks that pattern by introducing three brand-new fighters in a single season.
That approach will not satisfy everyone. Some fans still want long-missing characters to return, and others expected the end of World Tour updates to result in more DLC slots per year.
Instead, Capcom appears committed to maintaining its four-character seasonal structure.
Still, new fighters are what keep a long-running series evolving. Today’s unknowns often become tomorrow’s fan favorites.
Tifa will dominate the conversation, but Yasmine, Arjun, and Bosch may end up shaping the future identity of Street Fighter 6 far more than people expect.
And in a rare twist for fighting game history, Capcom managed to get both Street Fighter and Tekken fans talking about the same character again, just not for the reason anyone expected.
