Steve Jobs put psychic before life-saving cancer surgery
According to his forthcoming biography, Steve Jobs delayed potentially life-saving cancer surgery in favor of alternative healing treatments, including a psychic.
Steve Jobs looked to alternative treatments when he was diagnosed with cancer in October 2003 according to the soon-to-be-released documentary by Walter Isaccson. The new authorized biography states that Jobs, despite doctors recommendations to the contrary, delayed surgery for nine-months while he sought “alternative” treatments. These included a vegan diet, acupuncture, herbal remedies, and a consultation with a psychic.
“‘I really didn’t want them to open up my body, so I tried to see if a few other things would work,’ he told me years later with a hint of regret,” tells Isaacson in the new book. According to doctors the pancreatic tumor Jobs had was “treatable” but the delay to his surgery cut the chance of his survival. Isaacson’s book suggests Jobs may have rued that decision by the end.
Isaacson’s biography will hit stores in the US tomorrow. While originally scheduled for release in December, production was pushed forward following Jobs’ utimely death.
