Star Wars Celebration Info-Dump: A Galaxy Of New Movies And Shows

Disney could release information on their upcoming Star Wars things one at a time, like most other companies, but instead they usually cram everything into these big conferences two or three times a year, forcing us poor reporters to rush around and get everything up before everyone else does. The “Star Wars Celebration” conference took place this morning and Lucasfilm laid out all they have planned for the next year, and a few years after that.

This time, there was more of an emphasis on the future of Star Wars in the movies, something we haven’t heard about since 2019. Despite prior plans, they aren’t committing to a new trilogy, just a few separate ideas — which is probably for the better. But there are a lot of TV shows in the works too. Read on for a Star Destroyer-sized infodump.

Oh yeah, and if you’re one of those people who won’t stop complaining about how “bad” Star Wars is now, and how no one else can enjoy it because you personally don’t, you can go Ahsoak your head.

AHSOKA: I will not be watching this trailer, because I still haven’t finished Star Wars Rebels and this show will rely heavily on that continuity. If you haven’t seen any of Rebels, they’ve set a date of August on this, so you have four months to catch up on those sixty-plus episodes. If there’s anything that DOES annoy me about Star Wars shows, it’s how impenetrably connected they all are, and how they assume you’ve seen everything up to that point, animated and non. I know Marvel does something similar, but there’s no 100-episode “Secret Wars” TV series we have to watch to understand where every character came from.

SKELETON CREW: We still have yet to see a single screenshot of this, but Disney is promising it will get out before 2023 is through. Every time it’s brought up, it’s described as “Star Wars Goonies,” which makes us worried it’s another Stranger Things knockoff (until now, Disney has been above this). Jude Law stars as a man lost in the galaxy, looking for his home along with a ton of kids.

THE ACOLYTE: Again, previously announced, but confirmed for 2024. From Leslye Headland, creator of Russian Doll, it’s a tale set in the High Republic era that Headland calls “Frozen meets Kill Bill” — my, the images that combo generates in our heads. The series will be crafted in the spirit of martial arts movies, and feature a largely Asian cast. And get this…their Jedi master is a Wookiee.

STAR WARS EPISODE TEN: I don’t know what’s more desperate…Toy Story 5, a live-action Moana, or this. It may not be called Episode Ten, but it’s a proposed movie about Rey in the aftermath of the new trilogy, rebuilding the New Jedi Order, so it’s at least Episode Ten in spirit. Given what a mess the new trilogy was (everyone seems to have one particular movie they can’t stand), I don’t feel much of a demand in the air to ever see Rey again. But maybe I’m wrong and everyone will buy a ticket. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is directing from a script by Steven Knight. Daisy Ridley will reprise her role.

UNTITLED FILONIVERSE MOVIE: The head of every Star Wars TV show makes his big-screen debut with a feature film that ties together all the characters he’s shepherded. Set between Episodes 6 and 7, the time period The Mandalorian and Ahsoka are set in, it’s sure to have Grogu in at least five scenes.

THE FIRST JEDI: This is another movie without a title, but it should be obvious. From director James Mangold, it’s set 25,000 years before any other Star War and it’s about the discovery of the Force and the founding of the Jedi.

The Fandom menace will be complaining about their first world problems again because Rey is back. They can hate her all they want but she is here to stay. I can see the neckbeards and pick me girls in Youtube having a break down.

If you are an actress in a Star Wars movie or tv, The first thing you need to do is delete your socials. Death threats are not worth your mental health.

I feel at the end of the day not everyone is going to like a specific actor, we have different opinions.
We should just respect everyone's opinion.

Disney does that just like other companies so as to market it better, and to create anticipation among viewers.

I always see Ahsoka in videogames and comics, Never in my imagination thought she will be in live action. I still wonder what is on her head, is that a headdress, hair or her head have that unique shape because she is alien.

That's true, Disney and other companies create a lot of hype around their products to build anticipation. We should also remember that while some people may have different opinions on something, everyone should still be respected for their own thoughts.

While I understand the mixed reactions to the new trilogy, I personally enjoyed it and am excited to see what comes next for Rey and the New Jedi Order. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is a talented director, and I have no doubt she'll bring her own unique vision to this movie. Some people are just way too attached to their nostalgia glasses to the point they became bullies if they see changes. They complain about strong female characters when We have Lea in the first movie who is a strong woman.

I got bullied on Twitter when I tried to defend Kelly Marie Tran from those self proclaimed alpha males. She deleted all of her socials because the fans got so annoyed of her character Rose Tico.

I didn't foresee it to feature as much as it does in the teaser trailer. I'm very happy to have the ghost team back together again. I'm really happy that Ahsoka is so well-liked by most fans in general. I saw Zeb in The Mandalorian, and here we get to meet Sabine, Hera, Chopper, Thrawn, and I'm sure we will see Ezra. I'm delighted for this show to begin. Ahsoka is looking awesome!

About the First Jedi, The discovery of the Force and the founding of the Jedi sounds like a fascinating story to explore. James Mangold is a talented director, and I'm sure he'll bring his own unique style to this movie. It'll be interesting to see how the Jedi Order began and how it has evolved over time. Ahsoka is looking great. I didn't expect the series to take this tone, but I'm glad it did. In my opinion, it appears to be the Star Wars series I've always desired. I loved Andor and Mando, but this feels like the characters from the expanded universe novels have come to life, exactly as I envisioned them. Ahsoka is a fantastic character, and seeing the Rebels in action makes me very happy.
