Star Wars Battlefront: Free DLC and More Coming
Electronic Arts and DICE revealed that some new free content will be launching on Star Wars Battlefront starting as early as tomorrow. You can check out the full blog post from Senior Producer Sigurlina Invarsdottir at this link. Some new details were also revealed for what players can expect with the Battlefront Season Pass, including something involving the Death Star.
According to Invarsdottir, the new free content for the game includes new maps for multiplayer and Mission modes, the introduction of Private Matches, new Hero outfits and more. New locations for the Season Pass will include Bespin and the Death Star. Here is the new content that will drop tomorrow:
- Tatooine Survival Map – The map will now support the Blast, Droid Run, Drop Zone, Hero Hunt, and Heroes vs Villains multiplayer modes, and is called Raider Camp.
- New Hoth-themed outfits for Luke Skywalker and Han Solo – Both of which will be available to all fans when they play as these two iconic characters on Hoth.
- Private Matches – Players will now have the ability to make Private Matches, to make playing with friends even easier.
- Daily Challenges and Community Events – These are designed to rally the Community around certain goals and objectives, giving players the chance to earn credits and unlocks even faster. More details on the Community Events and Daily Challenges will be revealed later on.
In addition, the game will have some other balancing tweaks to both weapons and multiplayer modes. DICE is also promising that more free content will be added in February for all players, including a new Hoth mission, a new Hoth multiplayer map that will support larger game modes, including Walker Assault, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron and Turning Point. On top of that, Turning Point will be available on all maps that currently support Walker Assault and Supremacy in the February update. For March, DICE plans on adding a new multiplayer map set on Endor and an extra Tatooine Survival map.
DICE also outlined the plans for the game’s Season Pass, which will feature more content for the game released throughout this year. Below are some more details:
- Star Wars Battlefront Outer Rim (March 2016) – Fight among the factories of Sullust and battle within Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine
- Star War Battlefront Bespin (Summer 2016) – It’s hunt or be hunted in this action-packed experience set in the Cloud City of Bespin
- Star Wars Battlefront Death Star (Fall 2016) – That’s no moon! One of the most iconic locations in the Star Wars universe makes its debut in Star Wars Battlefront.
- Star Wars Battlefront Expansion Pack 4 – Title TBA (Early 2017).
The addition of a Death Star DLC pack for the game sounds pretty exciting. That at least changes the pace of all the planet based battles. One wonders where the Death Star will be set. Will a lot of it be set in the interior? Will this map allow for some outer-space battles on the exterior of the Death Star and in the trenches of the ship?
Star Wars Battlefront is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
