Squid Game Season 2 ~ I’m No. 456 and I’m Going Back In!

“Squid Game 2” began streaming on Netflix, on December 26, 2024. The exciting game of life and death continues. The 2nd season has 7 episodes, and if you did not watch the first season, it’s OK because S2 starts with a recap that summarizes S1 (9 episodes). Squid Game Season 3 is officially confirmed and it might be released around June 2025.

SUMMARY: The winner of the game who made it out alive is back in the real world. Guess what he is doing with the money he won? Hiring “lookers”. He wants to find out WHO is behind this ruthless death game. First, he hired a team of people to look for the salesman, the guy who goes around recruiting people for the game. Meanwhile, the game continues. There are a lot of people desperate enough to risk their life to win billions of won.

I Need to Find Out Who is Getting Away With Murder?

In “Squid Game 2”, Seong Gi-Hun survived the Squid Game, won the money, and was supposed to get on a flight to the United States. Instead, he returned to Seoul and now he’s determined to find out what sick psychotic maniac came up with this game. He has been searching for two (2) years trying to find the salesman, the guy who goes around recruiting game players. The recruiter is just a lapdog but surely he knows who his “Master” is. Find him and you can find the person behind the game. At least, that’s Seong Gi-Hun’s logic. Perseverance and persistence pays! It took two (2) years but he found him.

Meanwhile … there is another survivor. However, that’s not how the game works. But it happened. Hwang Jun-Ho was shot and fell off a cliff into the water. Somebody fished him out of the water and got him to a hospital. Once he recovered, he went back to work with the police department only not for the Violent Crimes Unit where he had been assigned. He preferred to work as a traffic cop.

However, when Hwang Jun-Ho is not working, he is on a boat with a friend looking for that mysterious island where the games are held. He tried to gather evidence when he was there but the proof he gathered mysteriously vanished. His fellow detective can’t explain what happened. All he can say is that police won’t pursue an investigation if the only thing they have to corroborate his story is the bullet from his gunshot wound. That means Hwang Jun-Ho has to investigate on his own.

Seong Gi-Hun finally got a lead on the recruiter. Two of the people he hired tracked him down and told him where to find him. He was on his way to the location but got pulled over by the traffic cops for speeding. Hwang Jun-Ho recognized the name and did a background check to find out more. Maybe if he followed Seong Gi-Hun’s trail, he could find proof of the island and the person behind the game. Sounds logical.

Seong Gi-Hun and Hwang Jun-Ho cross paths and decide to team up. Seong Gi-Hun makes a decision to get back into the game, this time, intending to put an end to the games.

Meanwhile, more players have been recruited and the secret survival games continue.

Who is Song Ji-woo?

Viewers seem to be curious about Song Ji-woo, a pretty and talented South Korean actress, who didn’t get much of a chance to act in Squid Game Season 2. She made her acting debut in 2019 and has starred in both contemporary and historical Korean dramas.

  • Song Ji-woo was one of the high school bullies in the Netflix series “The Glory” (2022 – 2023). She played the young Choi Hye-jung and has been steadily building on her acting career.

  • She had supporting roles in “A Time Called You” (2023), “Love to Hate You” (2023), “Doctor Slump” (2024), and “Gangnam B-Side” (2024).

  • Song Ji-woo won the Rising Star Award for Actress at the 2024 Korea Hallyu Entertainment Awards.

  • If you enjoy historical K-dramas she had minor roles in “The Forbidden Marriage” (2022) and “Queen: Love and War (2020).

  • In Squid Game 2, Song Ji-woo didn’t survive the first easy game of Red Light/Green Light. But even so, she earned $25,000 for her 15 minutes in front of the camera. Some of the actors who appeared in Squid Game Season 2 didn’t even have a salary.

  • In early January 2025, Song Ji-woo signed an exclusive contract with Billions Entertainment.  Follow her Instagram.

I’m genuinely thrilled about the potential Squid Game cinematic universe! The idea of exploring different timelines and settings is genius. "The 28th Squid Game" sounds like it could dive deep into the dystopian evolution of the games, while "Squid Game 1987" might give us a retro, gritty look at how it all started. "Squid Game USA" and "Squid Game: The World" could offer unique perspectives on how different cultures and societies approach this horrifying concept.

And let’s not forget "Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2." I loved the first season of the reality competition, and I’m eager to see how they up the stakes this time. Expanding the universe this way not only keeps the franchise fresh but also allows for more creative storytelling. I hope they maintain the social commentary that made the original so cool while adding new layers to the lore. It’s exciting to think about how interconnected these stories could become, like a global anthology of survival. I’m all in!

It’s hard to believe that Seong Gi-Hun would voluntarily return to the game after everything he went through. The writers seem to be prioritizing shock value over logical character development. Still, I can’t deny that the show knows how to build tension and deliver on drama. It’s good for what it is, but I’m managing my expectations for Season 3.

Player 196 may have had a short run, but she left a lasting impression on me. Her humor in such a grim setting was refreshing and unforgettable. It’s rare to see a character use wit as a coping mechanism in a show like this, and it made her stand out despite her limited screen time. Her jokes and lighthearted remarks brought a brief moment of levity to an otherwise intense atmosphere. It’s a testament to the writers and the actress that someone with such a minor role could leave such a big impact. I kind of wish we got to see more of her—it would’ve been interesting to see how her personality might have shaped the dynamics of the games if she’d lasted longer.Song Ji-woo played her so well I want to try to find her past dramas.

I think "Squid Game 2" did a fantastic job building on the foundation of the first season. Seong Gi-Hun’s moral transformation is inspiring, and I love that the show tackled the idea of using his wealth to dismantle the system. The dynamic between him and Hwang Jun-Ho is promising, and I’m excited to see how their alliance unfolds. Sure, some plot points stretch believability, but it’s fiction, and it’s meant to entertain. I can’t wait for Season 3!

You're all in, along with the rest of the world. This Kdrama is so popular that even platforms that don't stream the series make recommendations based on it. I saw a category on a platform with suggestions for “If You Liked 'Squid Game'” That platform doesn't stream “Squid Game” and yet they know it's popular enough to create a separate group of shows for their subscribers to watch.

Using his wealth for good. Isn't that what all wealthy people should do? Yeah. The morality and ethics of the “Squid Game” came through loud and clear.
