Speedrunner HD, the highly anticipated Dream.Build.Play semi-finalist and Summer Uprising finalist, has been released today, August 30th, and can now be downloaded for only $3 (240MSP) on the Xbox Live Indie Games marketplace.
As a part of the Indie Games Summer Uprising, which showcases ten of the best Xbox Live Indie Games, Speedrunner HD is the enhanced version of the popular flash game by the same name. This Hi-Def version features an all-new 4-player multiplayer mode, new levels and high definition graphics. The goal in this fast-paced 2D platformer is to speedrun as quickly as possible across action-packed platforming levels, using a grappling hook, walljumping and other freerunning abilities, in order to dismantle the bomb in time. The single player mode lets you re-play levels with newly unlocked gadgets to find the best routes and get the highest scores, while battling against the mad bomber and his diabolical machine.
While the single player mode provides enough challenge to keep most of us busy for a while, the multiplayer mode is where this game really shines. Players can gather (up to) 3 of their friends and compete in a local 4-player speedrunning spectacle! With all the players on the same screen, the goal is to out-run your friends so they fall off the screen. Do so by finding the best and quickest routes and by cleverly using weapons such as the grappling hook, homing missiles and remotely detonatable bombs. The game is really easy-to-pick-up, but it still has deep gameplay reminiscent of Mario Kart and Micro Machines, offering endless hours of fun.

We’ve been (im)patiently waiting for developer Shedworks’ Sable since it was first announced way back in 2018. There are so many games out there, with so many styles, that calling something a “unique look” really means something. Sable, somehow, meets 2021 standards of unique. Its spare cel-shaded visuals are rendered
