There are all sorts of video game remixes out there, but one type you might have not seen before is a lullaby remix. That’s the idea behind Sleep Mode, a new short album created by artist SonikBuster and published by Materia Collective.
While some of the pieces are original, others are soft versions of melodies from games like Undertale, Kingdom Hearts and Skyrim. According to SonikBuster, the album started as an experiment.
- 01. The Moral of the Story Is… (Ori and the Blind Forest)
- 02. Salty Dog Waltz (Original)
- 03. Dovahkiir (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)
- 04. Underground (UNDERTALE)
- 05. Dearly Beloved (Kingdom Hearts)
- 06. Heroes & Healers (Original)
“We were wrapping production on Materia Collective’s NIBEL: Ori and the Blind Forest album when a small crew of us decided to try and throw in one last song, but we didn’t make it on time,” says SonikBuster. “That one song turned into a series of low-key songs that could be enjoyed around a campfire, or just before sleeping. After writing a couple of songs I decided to compose a few more and ended up creating Sleep Mode, an album of lullabies for other geeky parents like myself to enjoy with their children. I wanted to do something to show appreciation for parents like us, and for fans who would enjoy something intimate and comforting.”
You can find Sleep Mode on iTunes, Bandcamp and Spotify. Follow future creations from SonikBuster through her website.
