Sledgehammer Games Rumored to be Developing Modern Warfare 4
Sledgehammer Games are rumored to be working on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for next generation consoles having previously co-developed Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward and Raven Software.
Earlier today a post appeared on NeoGaf which reveals the resume of Rob Valdivia (the resume has since been taken down), a Senior VFX Artist at Sledgehammer, who mentions the “next Call of Duty – Modern Warfare release”. The resume sates that Valdivia is currently developing “photo real visual effects” for the game.
“My name is Robert Valdivia and I am a Senior VFX Artist from Los Angeles but currently residing in the San Francisco bay area.” Reads the resume. “I work at Sledgehammer Games where I’m responsible for developing photo real visuals effects for the next Call of Duty – Modern Warfare release,”
Although this information should be taken with a pinch of salt, it does seem entirely possible that this could be true. Modern Warfare is the bigger of the two COD sub-franchises and with Infinity Ward not working on that series right now it makes sense to hand it to another developer. This could also mean that COD games will now have a 3-year development cycle instead of the 2 years we have become accustomed to over the current generation.
Chances are that we won’t hear anything about Modern Warfare 4 until next year at the earliest.
