There’s more Sea of Stars coming, and it’s free. Sea of Stars: Throes of the Watchmaker was announced during Nintendo‘s Indie World presentation this morning. Despite the Switch-exclusive announcement platform, the DLC will be available for all versions of the game.
Sea of Stars was first released almost one year ago, August 29 2023. It was created by Sabotage Studio, creators of the previous hit The Messenger, as a more ambitious project in the spirit of the great 16-bit RPGs like Chrono Trigger. The game was introduced to the public through a massive Kickstarter campaign. Since its release, the game has sold over five million copies worldwide.
Throes of the Watchmaker continues the story of Valere and Zale, the protagonists of the main game, as they investigate a sinister circus and gain two new appropriate job classes to blend in (acrobat and juggler). They’ll also meet a new playable character, Arty, about which not much is known. This chapter will be fully compatible with Co-Op Mode, a feature that has yet to be added to the main game.
Discover a miniature clockwork world in this free DLC for the critically-acclaimed and multi-award-winning RPG Sea of Stars. Gear up for a journey full of oddities and wonders, in which Valere and Zale will have to play by new rules to stop a cursed carnival. Zale will transform into a skilful juggler, while Valere will dazzle as an acrobat. Together with new playable character Arty, they’ll explore new areas, traverse new dungeons and encounter new enemies, bosses and puzzles in their quest to save the world of Horloge. The DLC will also support the upcoming local co-op mode, allowing players to team up with up to two others for a group adventuring session. A malevolent spectacle awaits with Sea of Stars – Throes of the Watchmaker DLC.
Anyone who already owns the game will receive this bonus chapter when it launches next year. Completion is expected sometime in the spring of 2025.
