Black Panther

#SaveTChalla : #RecastTchalla is becoming mainstream

#SaveTChalla is a new social media trend that becomes a follow up to the #RecastTchalla  movement. #RecastBlackPanther is also getting some traction. Last year Marvel Made an announcement that they will not recast T’Challa as respect to Chadwick Boseman’s legacy. Some fans are against the recasting because they think he is like that song Beyonce stole from Neyo, Irreplaceable. There is an online petition at Change.org that already garnered 50 thousand as of the writing of this article. T’Challa brings diversity that fans wanted. A Black character created for Black people and not another race swapped Ginger character.

#SaveTChalla is the second movement for the recasting because not recasting means the character will die off. The excuse of people against recasting is that other characters used the Black Panther mantle. Well, there are multiple characters who used the Batman Mantle but we always end up with Bruce Wayne, and Wayne is always recast.

The original plan after Chadwick’s death is to give the mantle to Shuri. Shuri did use the Black Panther Mantle in the comics at some point in her superhero career. On the other hand, Mantle replacement characters don’t sell that well.

Shuri as Black Panther

Letitia Wright is an Anti-Vax and she plays the role of Shuri. Her refusal of vaccination caused the delay for Black Panther 2. This opens the idea of just recasting T’challa instead of passing his mantle to Shuri. In the last decade, we have 4 Bruce Waynes. Why can’t we have a second T’Challa?

#SaveTchalla wanted the moments mentioned in this tweet is not yet adapted into film.

The Man who started the Recast T’Challa movement now gains mainstream attention.

Marvel is still firm on their decision to not Recast the character but they should not keep a blind eye to this movement. Celebrities are also giving support to this movement now.
