Rock Band Will Return ‘When the Time is Right’ Says Harmonix
Rock Band and plastic instruments will return on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when ‘the time is right,’ according to Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos in an interview with GamesReactor.
“We think about it all the time because we love Rock Band, and we’re waiting for just the right moment in the new generation of consoles to bring it back,” said Rigopulos when asked directly if Rock Band will return.
“Someday, when the time is right, we will want to bring it back,” he added.
The last Rock Band-themed game was Rock Band Blitz, released in 2012 while Rock Band 3 was released in 2010. Harmonix is currently working on Fantasia: Music Evolved for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, set for release on October 21. The developer also recently revealed the music-based shooter Chroma for the PC. At E3 2014, Harmonix announced Dance Central Spotlight for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, to be released at the end of the year. Harmonix has also Kickstarted a sequel to the PlayStation 2 classic Amplitude, which has a 2015 release date.
