Batman: Knightfall Part 1

Release Date Set For Batman: Knightfall Part 1

WB Animation’s next DC-related project is a three-part adaption of Knightfall, the Batman storyline that introduced and popularized Bane. Today, jumping a bit ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, WB revealed the release dates across all media, the bonus features, AND threw in a new trailer to boot.

Knightfall Part 1 is the most famous part of the story: Bane arrives in Gotham, and lets loose all of Batman’s enemies from Arkham Asylum. It’s part of a grand scheme to make his night as miserable as possible so that when Bets finally crawls back to his mansion, completely worn out, Bane can meet him there and easily break his back. The animated adaption will not shy away from the brutality of the story; WB is aiming for an R rating.

But here’s the bonuses that are inside, across all versions:

  • Breaking the Bat: Adapting the Knightfall — Go behind the scenes with the long-awaited animated adaptation as the filmmakers reveal their process for breaking down the epic story; designing and animating the action; and breathing life into one of the darkest sagas in the Dark Knight’s history.
  • Batman Needs a Robin — Many incarnations of Robin have helped Batman fight his war on crime. The filmmakers reveal the vital role Robin plays in the Batman mythology (with an emphasis on Tim Drake), in the iconic Batman: Knightfall series and in the animated adaptation.
  • About Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall — When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point.

Batman: Knightfall Part 1 stars the voices of Anson Mount (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds) as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Mando (Spider-Man: Brand New Day) as Bane and Pablo Schreiber (His & Hers) as Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael. The film is directed by Jeff Wamester (Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Guardians of the Galaxy series) and written by Jeremy Adams (Mortal Kombat Legends, Justice League: Warworld, Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons). Rick Morales serves as Supervising Producer alongside Producers Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau. Sam Register and Michael Uslan are Executive Producers.

Batman: Knightfall Part 1 will be available digitally starting August 25, and on 4K, Blu-Ray and DVD September 8. Part 2 will be available later in 2026, followed by Part 3 in early 2027.
