Rainbow Six Siege Will Have Not Have a Single Player-Campaign
It seems numerous modern triple-A game releases are ditching a traditional single-player campaign mode. As a result, these games focus on the competitive multiplayer or co-op multiplayer experience. Some of these games include such titles as Titanfall, Evolve and even the upcoming reboot of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise. However, another upcoming next-gen game that is ditching the single-player campaign route will be Ubisoft’s latest entry in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchise, Rainbow Six Siege. The art director for the game, Scott Mitchell, confirmed the news to What Culture at EGX 2015.
According to Mitchell: “There is no story mode per se. You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices. You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customize matches, so that’s what we’re offering on the single-player side of things.” Having training modes and AI in co-op is not really the same thing as a dedicated single-player campaign, and it’s an odd comparison to make.
Mitchell added, “It’s a pretty good training ground, and on top or that you’re unlocking the same content as you would playing in PvP. You’re still gaining stars, reknown points, and new operatives.”
Rainbow Six Siege is scheduled for a December 1 release. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
