PlxelJunk Monsters 2 Coming To Switch, PS4 And Steam
Spike Chunsoft has announced that a sequel to their tower defense game PixelJunk Monsters is hitting your favorite game-playing device soon. Playing as Tikiman, your goal is to prevent the invading monster hordes from taking your island and to protect the native creatures known as Chibis.
New to this sequel are a four-player co-op mode, explosive new weapons like fruit bombs, and for the first time, polygonal HD rendered visuals (some might say this betrays the “Pixel” in the brand name; I say they found a way to make it look unique).
GAME FEATURES
- Protect the Chibis!
Evil monsters have invaded the peaceful Tiki forest!
Protect the 20 Chibis at your house at all cost! - Waves? Like Surfing?
Monsters always attack in groups.
It’s just like a wave!
The number of waves depends on the stage. - Fire Away!
Use magic to transform trees into towers
and attack monsters. To build those towers
you will need coins and gems.
Even magic requires money… - Unlock Stages
Oh! Looks like new number plates appear near altars
when you successfully protect chibis in stages!
1… 2… 3… And they do appear in order huh. - Rainbow Fragments
If you protect all your Chibis you can get
a rainbow fragment as a reward.
Collect them to visit Tiki houses in other areas.
The PixelJunk characters appeared in their first game (a racer) back in 2007 and have crossed genres several times since. They’ve also appeared in platformers and shooters, but the tower defense genre seems to be taking off for them.
Watch for PixelJunk Monsters 2 May 25 on Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. It’ll sell for $14.99.
