Perfect Marriage Revenge

Perfect Marriage Revenge ~ Best Kdrama Soap Opera Ever!

“Perfect Marriage Revenge” is a 2023 Viki Original Korean drama series. There are 16 episodes and if you’re into family drama where family members are super envious and jealous of each other, and spend all of their energy trying to screw each other over, this series is perfect!

♦ A Prestigious Art Gallery That Sells Fake Paintings

“Perfect Marriage Revenge” is a romance/drama that tells the story of Han Yi-Joo, a young girl who was adopted into a rich family but never accepted as a part of the family. Meanwhile, her little sister is showered with love and spoiled rotten. She is constantly reminded by her “mother” who adopted her that she is “fake” and her little sister is “real”. Meaning that she should be thankful she was adopted and never try to receive all the wealth and property that should go directly to her little sister.

Growing up in that home was hellish for Han Yi-Joo! When she was in middle school someone poisoned her food. Although she didn’t die, she was traumatized. People would say she was so skinny. But the reality was that fter the food poisoning incident she was afraid to eat! As far as receiving wealth, Han Yi-Joo was a gifted artist. No doubt she could use her God-given talent and create her own wealth. Instead, her mother convinced her to “copy” the originals of famous artists.

Han Yi-Joo’s mother said that the copied paintings would be donated to orphanages as a charitable donation. But that was not true. The mother was selling them off as “originals”. But when one of the art buyers realized she had been sold a fake, she exposed the crime. The mother told Han Yi-Joo to take the blame for the crime. After all, she’s the “fake” daughter; not the “real” one. Why not take the blame for selling fake paintings?

♦ Second Chance at Life; But Only For One Year

Han Yi-Joo was shocked that her mother had deceived her and then wanted her to take the blame for committing fraud. This was a betrayal she had never imagined. Another betrayal that she had not imagined was her husband telling her she was just a convenient “substitute”.

Before the art fraud was exposed her husband had just asked her for a divorce. He told her the only reason he married her was to get close to her little sister. He had always been in love with her sister. However, their parents would not approve of his marriage because of his financial status. So he married Han Yi-joo so that he could at least be close to her sister.

Two horrific betrayals both at the same time. Rather than being arrested by the police, Han Yi-Joo got in her car, drove off, and ended up getting into a horrible accident. While in the hospital the doctors said she might not pull through. The mother tried to kill her while she was unconscious by disconnecting the life support machines. While hanging between death and life, Han Yi-Joo prayed that she would be given a second chance at life. She promised not to be so foolish.

Her prayer was answered. Instead of waking up in a hospital bed, she woke up in her own bed. When she checked the time she realized that she had gone back one year in the past. She had been given a second chance and now had the opportunity to change her past. But she only had one year to accomplish this.

♦ How to Change Your Past in 3 Steps

Step 1: Han Yi-Joo had not yet married that jerk who had deceived her and since she knew he did not really love her, she kicked him to the curb. The wedding was called off. That was her first step towards changing her past.

Step 2: Since Han Yi-Joo knew about her mother’s scheme to sell her fake art pieces as originals, she knew better NOW not to be duped and also HOW not to be duped. She set a plan in motion to gain full access and control of all of her artwork. That was her second step towards changing her past.

Step 3: The best way to change your past is the third step. She overheard her little sister telling her mother that she wanted to get married to Seo Do-Kook, a man who was one of the heirs to Taeja Group, a Korean conglomerate. Of course, the greedy mother approved of the union. Han Yi-Joo made up her mind that getting Seo Do-Kook to marry her would be the perfect marriage revenge.

Main Characters:

  • Han Yi-Joo (played by Jung Yoo-Min, “Cruel Palace: War of Flowers”)
  • Seo Do-Kook (played by Sung Hoon)

Where to Watch

Viewership and Rating:

My personal rating is the same as the Viki viewers. American televised soap operas can last for 60 years. This series was just 16 episodes but the storyline would make for a long-lasting soap opera. Lots of family drama where relatives hate each other’s guts! Plus dirty family secrets. Relatives are constantly scheming to get revenge. Each episode ended like a soap opera episode with lots of questions.

Tune In for the Next Episode:

  • Will the older brother finally make his younger brother pay for ____?
  • Will the wicked stepmother finally get rid of her stepdaughter?
  • Will the spoiled little stepsister try another dirty trick to get back at her stepsister for marrying “her man”?

This Viki Original Korean drama series is based on the webcomic “Wanbyeokhan Gyeolhonui Jungseok”. But in my opinion, it was the best soap opera ever!

That drama "Perfect Marriage Revenge" hit me like a ton of bricks. I mean, imagine finding out your own mom, the one who's supposed to have your back, is selling your art as originals! It's like she's playing a real-life Monopoly game with my life. I'd be so mad! And don't even get me started on the husband drama. If I were Han Yi-Joo, I'd kick that guy to the curb too. No one deserves to be a substitute for someone else's crush. But the best part? Han Yi-Joo getting a second chance at life. I wish I could rewind time and fix some of my own mess-ups. Can't wait to see how she turns the tables on her messed-up family!

I recently finished "Perfect Marriage Revenge," and let me tell you, it's an emotional rollercoaster. Han Yi-Joo's decision to go back in time to restore her life is brilliant! If I had the chance, I'd avoid all the phony drama. And what about the art scheme? So cunning! But now that Han Yi-Joo is aware of the situation, it's like seeing a superhero story unfold. She's taking charge of both her art and her life. Seo Do-Kook, too? I support him and Han Yi-Joo. True love should triumph over all, including messed-up family relationships. I'm glued on this drama, and those cliffhangers at the conclusion of each episode? I'm dying to know what happens next!

Okay, I got caught on "Perfect Marriage Revenge" from the first episode. Han Yi-Joo's family is a complete shambles, especially her mother. Selling bogus artwork and then expecting her to bear the consequences? That is some serious betrayal. The real stinger, however, is the husband turmoil. Getting married merely to be near to your sister? What a messed up situation! Han Yi-Joo is deserving of better. The fact that she is given another chance to make things right is the ultimate story twist. I hope she gives her family a taste of their own medicine. I'm dying to see the next episode because the suspense is killing me!

"Perfect Marriage Revenge" is an intense tumble, and I'm ready for it. Han Yi-Joo's story is a soap opera on a grand scale. The familial drama is strong, and what about the whole art gallery thing? It was impossible for me to believe. Who would do it to their own child? But the finest part is Han Yi-Joo flipping the script. Kicking that phony husband to the curb and reclaiming control of her craft - that's some serious power. And trying to sway Seo Do-Kook for ultimate vengeance? That was an unexpected storyline twist for me. I adore how this drama keeps me watching.

Just finished watching "Perfect Marriage Revenge," and wow, my mind is still processing everything. The family dynamics in this drama are like a train wreck – you can't look away. Han Yi-Joo's struggles hit close to home. I mean, who wouldn't be devastated finding out your family's been selling your art as fakes? And that husband of hers – what a snake! Marrying her for all the wrong reasons. I'm glad she's taking control and fixing things. The time-travel twist adds a whole new layer of intrigue. I'm rooting for Han Yi-Joo to flip the script on her messed-up family. Can't wait to see how it all unfolds!

"Perfect Marriage Revenge" completely disappointed me. The family drama felt like an endless cycle of betrayal and anguish. The plot of the art gallery swindle was not only ridiculous, but also felt desperate in its attempt to add complexity. Despite her tribulations, Han Yi-Joo's character lacks depth, and her unexpected second chance at life feels like a cheap narrative gimmick. The husband's portrayal is one-dimensional and unappealing, making emotional investment difficult. The show primarily depends on tired soap opera cliches, and the attempts at suspense with each episode's ending fall flat. The idea of recreating the past in three phases seems like a poorly written self-help manual. Overall, "Perfect Marriage Revenge" falls short of providing a fascinating and authentic plot.
