Red Barrels’ survival-horror game, Outlast, has made the leap to PS4. As you explore an offbeat asylum over run with secrets and abominations, you’ll no longer be limited to a monitor. The new developer’s first title was initially developed as a download for the PC, but now will be coming to console as well as Sony pulled the independent game on-board not long before E3. Watch some footage from the game’s E3 demo-booth below:
Seeing a privately-developed title like such as this jump in with the PS4 makes one wonder how many times Microsoft will have to be slapped before getting a lick of street-smarts in regards to the potential of indie-development. It’s a widely-addressed topic in the gaming world, and while I’m not sure how well Red Barrels now fits into that genre these days, the lack of ambition the Xbox One team is showing in regards to nabbing such titles is pretty clear.
However, reigning back in to Outlast, how it will compare in regards to Tango Gameworks’ and Bethesda’s upcoming and seemingly-grittier The Evil Within remains to be seen.
Expect the game to release late this year.
