Outlast 2 Is In Development
Red Barrels has confirmed that a sequel to their critically acclaimed survival horror title Outlast is in development.
Confirmed in an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Philippe Morin, Red Barrels co-founder, said “After shipping the XB1 version of Outlast, we took some time to analyze our situation and we quickly realized we had at least another horror game in us. So, yes, we are working on Outlast 2”
Regarding the setting of the game, Morin said “The game will be a survival horror experience and it will take place in the same universe as Outlast, but it will have different characters and a different setting. We might go back to Mount Massive Asylum one day, but for now we have new ideas and themes we’d like to explore and we think we’re cooking up something special.”
The original Outlast first released on PC in September last year. It then made its way to the PlayStation 4 in February and Xbox One in June this year. In Outlast, you play as Miles Upshur, a freelance investigative journalist who receives an anonymous tip from a source identified only as a whistleblower. The lead tells of inhumane experiments committed at Mount Massive Asylum, a remote psychiatric hospital situated deep in the mountains of Colorado.
No release date for Outlast 2 was announced, but you can expect it to launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at the same time when it’s released.
