Recently, Netflix decided to cash in its coins to The Witcher, preemptively capping the show off at five seasons. That leaves two more, and both are burdened with the unpopular recasting of Liam Hemsworth as the title character, replacing Henry Cavill.
A lot is riding on Hemsworth getting as close to Cavill as he possibly can (but not too much, given the show’s lame duck status). Today Netflix put up a brief (and we mean brief) video clip of the new actor in costume. See what you think of him:
It IS pretty close, we have to admit. However, we haven’t heard him yet. It’s doubtful Hemsworth can replicate Cavill’s gravelly tone of voice.
Regarding Season Four, which is now in production: “After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other,” says Netflix. “If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire and finding one another again.”
As for when we could possibly see more, seasons Four and Five of The Witcher are being produced together, but production only recently began and it could be well into 2025 before the story continues. This minute of footage will have to satisfy you for a while.
