OK! Madam (2020) ~ A Hilarious Korean Spy Comedy

OK! Madam” is a 2020 Korean movie, categorized as Action, Family, and Comedy; streaming on both Amazon Prime and Viki. It is one of the most hilarious spy comedies ever released.

SUMMARY: An ordinary South Korean family won an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii. It was their first family vacation in years. It turns out there were North Korean spies also on the plane searching for one of their comrades who had defected years ago. Their intelligence sources said the defector was on the plane. The spies hijacked the plane and told the pilot to go to North Korea. WHAT? No way are some spies going to ruin our family vacation. The ordinary couple spring into action and their courageous acts are extraordinary.

We’re Going to Hawaii! Not North Korea!

A North Korean secret agent code-named “Magnolia” disappeared somewhere in South Korea and her comrades have been hunting for her for several years. South Korean intelligence agents have also been trying to find her. North Korea received an intelligence report that said Magnolia was going to be aboard a flight to Hawaii. NK terrorists boarded that plane hoping to finally catch her and bring her back to as a traitor. They don’t have an up-to-date photo so they will have to guess which passenger. Even though she is female, she could be disguised as a male.

Mi-Young and her husband Seok-Hwan have not had a family vacation in years. Mi-Young always say they don’t have the money. Seok-Hwan has resorted to buying soft drinks and looking under the caps to see if they will in anything. This time he checked the bottle cap and it said: “FREE TRIP TO HAWAII!!” There was no way his wife could use the excuse of not having enough money. Everything was paid for! Plane tickets, hotel room, meals, etc. So he, his wife, and their daughter, all dressed up in Hawaiian shirts and boarded the plane. They were looking forward to the first family vacation.

Imagine their shock when the terrorists said they were hijacking the plane and everyone was going to North Korea instead. WHAT? Mi-Young and Seok-Hwan were like NO FLIPPING WAY!! They are not going to let some dangerous ruthless North Korean terrorists ruin their once-in-a-lifetime family vacation. Exactly how are they going to stop them? These are trained and highly skilled North Korean agents on a mission. Mi-Young sells twisted bread sticks for a living and Seok-Hwan is a computer repairman and they’re on a vacation. Sure seems like they’re evenly matched. LOL.

Where to Watch

Viewership and Rating:

My personal rating is the same as the Viki viewing audience.

Do you like good old-fashioned wholesome family comedy with a little spying mixed in? Watching “OK! Madam” was so much fun. I loved the characters. I even liked some of the spies and they were supposed to be the bad guys.  LOL.

"Free trip to Hawaii? Sounds too good to be true! Love how they turned the vacation into a hilarious fight against bad guys. Plus, it's gotta be funny watching a bread vendor and a computer repairman take down spies. This is definitely going on my "must-watch" list.

Interesting! North Korean spies vs. a South Korean family on a plane? Sounds like a unique premise for a comedy. Reviews seem mixed, but I love Uhm Jung-Hwa and Park Sung-Woong. Might be worth checking out for the laughs and the acting.

Awesome to see more Korean movies getting recognition! A comedy about a hijacking sounds like a risky mix, but the ratings and reviews seem positive. Love that it's on both Amazon Prime and Viki, makes it easy to access for international viewers like me

Whoa, the ratings for this movie are all over the place! From a 6.7 on IMDb to a 9.6 on Viki? Seems like this one might be a love-it-or-hate-it kind of film. The trailer link is helpful though, might check that out before committing.

It's definitely, a ten out of ten on the "adorable cuteness" meter. LOL.

I don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen it but their little daughter helped fight the bad guys too.

I have been loyal Viki subscriber for years. The price is a bargain. I recently paused my Amazon Prime. It was just getting too expensive. I am such a K-drama addict, that I get really happy when I can find K-content on more than platform.
