SUMMARY: A routine parking argument pushes a woman into a terrifying confrontation with a neighbor whose hostility escalates into violent obsession. As the situation spirals, she must fight to survive a deadly game she never intended to play.
In “No Parking”, what started as an annoyance over a parking space spirals into a nightmare of obsession, intimidation, and survival. O Yeon Hui is already frustrated with cramped parking spaces and tense neighborly interactions. One day after a particularly stressful day, what should have been a polite request about a parking space erupts into a heated argument. Her neighbor, Lee Ho Jun, is no “gentleman”. He has a temper and hostility that run far deeper than she initially realizes.
She thought it was just a petty disagreement. Lee Ho Jun quickly escalated it into a psychological and physical battle. O Yeon Hui did not know her neighbor had a sinister side. His fixation on O Yeon Hui grows disturbingly personal, and a seemingly trivial confrontation becomes a life-threatening ordeal. Lee Ho Jun’s behavior shifts from passive-aggressive to openly predatory. O Yeon Hui is being terrorized.
O Yeon Hui tries to seek help, but victims of harassment often struggle to be taken seriously. Lee Ho Jun is in full-blown stalker mode: watching her movements, invading her privacy, and manipulating situations to make her appear unstable.
What do you do when nobody will help you? YOU HELP YOURSELF. Initially, O Yeon Hui is overwhelmed and reactive. But once she realizes that no one is coming to save her, her survival instincts kick in. She doesn’t know how far she will have to go to reclaim her safety, but she’s made up her mind. ‘It’s him or me! And it’s not going to be me!’
Where to Watch: Tubi TV and Apple TV
My personal rating is the same as MDL.
“No Parking” will make you think twice about arguing over a parking space. Violence against women dominates the storyline, and it is no laughing matter. Can you imagine working all day, having to wrestle with sexual harassment on the job, and then coming home to harassment and stalking by your neighbor?
Some say it’s a hidden gem or underrated thriller. Overall, though, as a movie, I agree with FictionMachine that it could have been better.
