Fans of Star Wars: Andor tend to be pretty obsessed and vocal about the series, recommending it to everyone they can and impatiently counting down the days until they can get the second half of the story. Well, you’re gonna have to add an extra 300 or so days to that countdown clock. Don’t shoot the messenger, I’m just here to deliver the news.
Disney released a list of Star Wars related shows premiering in 2024 and Andor was not among them. No explanation was given. Earlier this year, during the Star Wars Celebration event, a release date of August 2024 for Andor Part 2 was announced. The strike immediately afterward might’ve thrown a wrench in that, but it’s hard to tell for sure. It’s looking like the show’s return has been delayed into 2025.
Andor is a prequel to the movie Star Wars: Rogue One starring one of its central characters, Cassian Andor, depicting his journey to the Rebel Alliance. People either love Andor to an obsessive degree or despise the hype over it — no middle ground. While Star Wars is famous for being an action series, and Andor has its scenes of intensity, other parts of it tend to be slow-moving and dryyyyyyyyy, especially whenever Mon Mothma is on screen.
So what ARE we getting related to Star Wars in 2024? Plenty of things. There’s The Acolyte, set 200 years before Episode 1. There’s Skeleton Crew, a show where Jude Law has to shuttle The Goonies through space. There’s the third and final season of The Bad Batch, and a second installment of Tales Of The Jedi. That’s four shows to entertain you for the next 366 days (it’s a Leap Year). Just…not maybe the one you wanted most.
