Oni Press is set to bring an exciting lineup of comics this November, featuring both new titles and continuing series that promise to captivate readers with their unique storytelling and artistic styles. From supernatural detectives to apocalyptic fairy tales, here’s a look at what’s coming.
A Supernatural Noir Adventure
One of the most intriguing new releases is Calavera, P.I. #1, a noir-inspired tale set in 1925. Written and illustrated by Marco Finnegan, this four-part series follows the resurrection of Juan Calavera, a former Chicano hero turned private investigator. Summoned from the dead on Dia de los Muertos, Calavera is tasked with solving a kidnapping case that hits close to home while unraveling the mystery of his own murder.
Another title continuing its run is Epitaphs from the Abyss #5, now a monthly series. This issue features contributions from well-known writers like Matt Kindt, Matthew Rosenberg, and Joanne Starer. Set against the eerie backdrop of a graveyard on the edge of the abyss, the series continues to deliver tales of horror and suspense, reminiscent of the classic EC Comics style
A Sci-Fi Horror Exploration
Cruel Universe #4 pushes the boundaries of sci-fi horror with its exploration of humanity’s place in the cosmos. Writers like Matt Bors and Cecil Castellucci team up with artists such as Alison Sampson to bring to life a universe where humans may not be alone, and the entities out there may not have our best interests at heart. The ongoing series delves into the existential dread of first contact, questioning whether humanity is ready to face what lies beyond our understanding.
For fans of dystopian futures, Skin Police #2 offers a gritty continuation of the story set in the year 2142. With the future looking bleak, writer Jordan Thomas and artist Daniel Gete delve deeper into a world where specialized agents, known as the “Skin Police,” hunt down rogue clones called “Dupes.” The narrative intensifies as the agents uncover secrets that could shake the very foundation of their society, while a newly discovered Dupe, Lacey Dodd, must navigate the dangers of the underground rebellion.
Adventure and Nostalgia Combined
The fantastical world of Sectuars #2 returns with more action-packed adventures. Dennis Culver’s writing, paired with Ramon Bachs’ artwork, continues to explore the rise of Prince Dargon and his Sectaur warriors. The stakes are higher than ever as Dargon faces the forces of the Dark Domain, all while battling for his rightful place as king.
Horror enthusiasts will find much to love in The Autumn Kingdom #3, a dark fairy tale from Cullen Bunn and Christopher Mitten. The series follows sisters Sommer and Winter as they search for clues to rescue their parents from monstrous kidnappers. The discovery of a powerful, bloodthirsty sword adds a layer of intrigue and danger, as the sisters must navigate a world filled with murderous fairies and forest dwellers with sinister intentions.
Magic and Numbers with Sesame Street
On a lighter note, the all-ages title Sesame Street #4 by Joey Esposito and Sean Dove brings the magic of the beloved children’s show to comic form. In this issue, a magic trick gone wrong causes all the numbers on Sesame Street to disappear, leading to a fun and educational adventure to set things right.
Lastly, the holiday season gets a dose of irreverence with the Rick and Morty: Super Special Holiday Extravaganza #1. This 64-page special from Alex Firer and a talented team of artists promises to deliver the kind of chaotic, over-the-top humor that fans of the show have come to expect.

Only human arrogance would lead us to believe that we are alone in this vast universe. The real question is, who will find us first? Allies to help us grow and flourish as members of larger cosmic society? Or others who would use up the earth for its resources, enslave the human race, and destroy everything we know and love? Do we live in a limitless realm of possibilities, or a deep dark Cruel Universe? Cozy thoughts, aren’t they?
While you ponder those questions, you’ll find no comfort in the pages of our latest cruel offering . . . featuring the astronomical talents of EC veterans Matt Kindt (BRZRKR, Mind MGMT) and Ben H. Winters (CBS’ Tracker), while welcoming newcomers Cecil Castellucci (Shade the Changing Girl) and Matt Bors (Toxic Avenger) to the void. . . . In a land pervaded by cruelty and evil, the most innocent among us, young Lamb, was selected to become a noble sacrifice. . . . His death would be the magical rite that would forever seal the darkest of the Old Gods out of our realm and usher in a new age of bounty. So Lamb died . . . but then he made a deal of his own. The Old Faith must fall. The disbelievers must be destroyed. A new master shall reign over all of creation. Praise be to the Cult of the Lamb!
