Navy Force Gameplay Features Detailed
Naval-warfare strategy MMO, Navy Force launched its open beta phase last week. Now, publisher NGames have revealed more details on the key gameplay features of their latest browser-based hit. From training special officers to making allies and even capturing secret islands, life at sea in Navy Force is always challenging, and always fun.
Officers
“It’s easy to gain a thousand troops, but it’s difficult to gain a true general”
This saying couldn’t be truer when it comes to Navy Force. While the game allows you to command thousands of troops at once, it is the officers you train and the way you handle them that will determine your victory.
Officers are the cornerstone of Navy Force’s combat and add a wicked RPG twist to the RTS-focused gameplay. Well trained, loyal officers will win you wars and make you a hero. The opposite will not.
Officers can be customised to suit your play style in Navy Force, allowing you to name them, dress them, and equip them with different items from your inventory before they lead your troops into battle.
Training multiple officers and specialising them in key career paths, such as Commander or Merchant, is essential to victory. You can easily keep track of their progress via the intuitive officer management screen, which shows you the personal ability of your office (determined by the colour of their name), their current rank and level, and even how lucky they are when it comes to scoring big victories in trades, item acquisitions and, of course, battles.
It’s also here that you spend experience points to level-up your Officers in a number of important areas, all with a few simple clicks. You must manage and increase your Officers’ loyalty – essential for moments when they are captured – as well as their experience, rank, and the number of troops they can command.
Each Officer comes with unique characteristics, so choose your leaders and how you train them wisely. Focusing on and training their natural skills will reap huge benefits, helping you take more advantageous positions in battles.
Nevertheless, this is war. Officers can fall in battle, turn against you, or even under perform and have to be discharged. It’s up to you to choose, train and protect the best.
The Secret Island
Navy Force comes with its very own Lost-like mysterious islands, packed with valuable resources and battle-winning supplies. You can try to accomplish your aims using your own resources, but it will be difficult. Finding the Secret Islands will make you a powerful country and could turn the tide of maritime warfare in your favor. The expedition to find it will be risky, but worth it!
Secret Islands are located at random ratios on the world map. You must attack them in exactly the same way you attack a territory for ownership. If you win, the island becomes yours and can be used as a multi-base (ie, a secondary base).
However, if you attempt to take a Secret Island more than 5 times in any 24 hour period and fail, it will be locked out to you and the chance will be lost.
Obtaining a Secret Island will allow you to use it in the same way you use your main base. The key benefit being that they contain rare metals to mine and use to your advantage, such as copper, manganese, nickel and tungsten.
However, the highest level of construction on a Secret Island – and all multi-bases – is limited to 25, meaning you can’t stay there forever.
What’s more, other users can always attack the island and attempt to take it from you. As a leader, do you risk holding on, or do you use your “Territory License Permit” to keep others out for a long enough period to destroy the Island, take 20% of the resources, and move on?
Allied Fleets
During war, today’s friend can become tomorrow’s enemy, and today’s enemy can become tomorrow’s friend.
Navy Force lets you team up with other like-minded players to form alliances, make an invincible fleet and rule the seas. Combining your skills with others will unlock various benefits that allow you to become stronger than ever before, putting victory within grasp.
But choose your friends wisely – the seas are unpredictable, and so are the people who sail them. Backstabbing is a way of life when the world is a giant lawless state.
Scientific Research
Knowledge is power, and power is responsibility. Advancing your scientific research in a responsible manner is perhaps the most important aspect of Navy Force. Fail to do so, and your chances will sink before they even set sail.
There are 2 kinds of science research in Navy Force, “Personal” and “Alliance”. Scientific research, which you can perform at any of your bases (though the advantages of research conducted at your main base will be spread across all of your multi-bases), will strengthen your troops and military power. The better your research level and technologies available, the better your chances of winning.
But remember, each base can only research one area at a time. So be sure to choose wisely and only research the areas you really need.
Special Trade Ports
Users can trade precious commodities with each other through trade ports, which can be visited using merchant ships. The higher the level of the trade port building, the higher the class of merchant ship that can purchased and traded with.
A solid merchant ship and trading ethos could cut your resource mining work load, meaning you can spend more time on managing your troops and conquering the world!
