Mortal Kombat XL Edition Revealed

It was bound to happen at some point. Hot off the heels of the news that NetherRealm Studios was working on enhancing the online gameplay experience for Mortal Kombat X, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertianment and NetherRealm Studios have announced Mortal Kombat XL. You can check out the announcement trailer for the deluxe edition of the fighting game in the player below.

This version of Mortal Kombat X features the main game and all the content released for the game with Kombat Pack 1 and Kombat Pack 2. That means the new edition will feature all the additional characters and alternate costumes and character skin packs for the game all together. Not only that, Goro, who was originally only available as a pre-order bonus character at launch. Here is a breakdown of the content players will have access to with the XL edition:

  • DLC Playable characters: Predator from Predator, Goro, Jason Voorhees, Tremor, Tanya, Triborg, Bo’Rai Cho, the Xenomorph from Alien, and Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
  • DLC Skin packs including Brazil Skin, Kold War Skin, Kold War Scorpion Skin, Apocalypse Skin, and the Samurai Skins.

Mortal Kombat XL will be available digitally and as a physical disc release in stores on March 1. However, it appears the XL version will only be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, not Windows PC. Gamers will recall that Mortal Kombat X was initially planned for release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well, but those versions were delayed and eventually cancelled.
