It looks like Michael B. Jordan is going to attempt another shot at being featured in a live-action Marvel film adaptation. Variety is reporting that the thespian is in talks to join the cast of Marvel’s Black Panther. If Jordan joins the cast, he would re-team with his Creed director Ryan Coogler, who will be helming the franchise. Jordan will give Marvel another try after 2015’s disastrous Fantastic Four movie, which featured Jordan as Johnny Storm aka Human Torch.
Chadwick Boseman is set to star in the film as T’Challa aka Black Panther. Lupita Nyong’o is also reportedly in talks to join the cast as the love interest for Black Panther. The role Jordan would play is currently unknown. Joe Robert Cole is co-writing the script at this time with Coogler, with Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige producing the project.
It wouldn’t be the first time the star of a failed Fantastic Four franchise gets redemption in another Marvel franchise. Case in point, Chris Evans went from playing Human Torch in two lukewarm Fantastic Four films to becoming Steve Rogers aka Captain America, and that worked like gangbusters for his career.
Black Panther arrives in theaters on February 16, 2018. The character can also be seen in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War.
