The long wait for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is almost over. The new game marks the final Metal Gear Solid installment that will be developed by legendary creator Hideo Kojima, as he is splitting with Konami after the launch of this game. This new trailer is distinct as it was created and produced by Kojima himself. In addition, it also features footage from Kojima’s previous modern Metal Gear Solid franchise games. The trailer is a good reflection of all that has come before, and this game essentially closes the loop of all of Kojima’s MGS games.
Also, Konami provided us new details on the companion app that will be available for the game, which will be similar to the app for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. The Phantom Pain app will act as a second screen map, and it can connect with the main game to show the in-game map. The app will allow players to see the map at all times and see more of the map on screen than in the actual game.
In addition, the app allows players to listen to all records and music that are obtained over the course of the game. However, the companion app will only be available for the PS4, PS3 and Xbox One versions of the game. It will be available to download in conjunction with the launch of the game next month.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain finally hits the shelves on September 1. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. A special Collector’s Edition will also be available for $99.99 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
