Meet Cowboy Bebop’s Killer Cast

Is it a good idea to attempt a live-action remake of what many consider the greatest TV anime of all time? We still don’t know, but the newly released cast list for Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop gives us confidence they may be able to pull it off.

John Cho, star of several recent Star Trek movies (as Sulu) as well as the movie Searching, has been cast as the flesh-and-blood Spike Spiegel. (Is Spike actually Asian? Is he Jewish? Both? No one knows.) He’ll be sharing the ship with Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black…Shakir has been seen on Netflix already, as season two’s villain Bushmaster.

Daniella Pineda is Faye Valentine, and you might know her from……okay, did any of you REALLY see “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”? None of you? That’s what I thought. Then you don’t know her. Rounding out the list of announcements is Alex Hassell as Vicious, Spike’s former partner and mortal enemy.

All in all, a very strong list of picks. But what about the most important cast member of them all….who can possibly fill the shoes of Ed? We have no idea. Know any wacky, unhinged, genius children?

Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop still has no release date.
