Limited Run Reveals Massive E3 Release List
It’s that time of the year again….the time when Limited Run Games reveals everything they’re planning to publish in physical form over the next few months. This time there were a few surprises, but nothing as earth-shattering as in years past. Maybe Limited Run peaked with Scott Pilgrim.
Another thing that was different: they refused to attach a release date or even a release window to any of the revealed games. This makes our job more of a pain. We normally sort the list in release order, but this time we can’t do that…we’ve chosen to catalog the games in order of announcement instead. When they show up, no one knows. Keep watching the Limited Run website; they’ll all be announced eventually.
Zombies Ate My Neighbors / Ghoul Patrol — Switch
Both the beloved 16-bit classic and its lesser-known sequel will be sold in one package. It’s just weird to see the Disney logo on it now.
Superhot — Switch
Double Dragon & Kunio-Kun: Retro Brawler Bundle — Switch, PS4
River City Girls — PS5 (previously released on PS4 and Switch)
River City Girls Zero — Switch
Did you know the River City Girls were already the focus of another game? Released on the Super Famicom in 1994 as Shin Nekketsu Koha: Kunio-tachi no Banka, the game stayed in Japan until now. It will have an official English translation as well as a new animated opening and manga cutscenes like the more well-known RCG.
River City Girls 2 — PS4, PS5, Switch
That’s not the end, either — a full-fledged sequel is in the works. It’s also coming to XBox, but LRG has never been able to make a deal with Microsoft — apparently their minimum demand for a print run is too high.
Strife: Veteran Edition — Switch
Shantae — PS5
Wait a minute, I thought we were through with Shantae for a while….well, not on PS5. All five Shantae games will be released for the new console, hopefully at once and not as five separate boxes.
Bloodrayne Betrayal — Switch, PS4, PS5
No one’s seen the edgy vampire heroine since her original publisher went out of business in the 2000s…but here she is, different look (2D drawings), different genre (platformer Metroidvania), but same attitude.
Haven — PS4, PS5
Skatebird — Switch
It’s what it sounds like — an extreme skateboarding game where all the skaters are birds.
Huntdown — Switch
Axiom Verge 2 — Switch, PS4, PS5
The Takeover — Switch
A brawler with a Street Fighter-like style.
Dusk — Switch, PS4
Republique — Switch, PS4, PS VR
Going Under — Switch
One Step From Eden — Switch
A card-battling game with 2D retro sprite art.
RWBY: Grimm Eclipse — Switch
Retromania Wrestling — Switch, PS4
Castlevania Requiem — PS4
Yeah! I was hoping they would do this. A two-game package of Castlevania’s greatest moments, Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood. And that’s not all…
Castlevania Rondo of Blood: Official Turbo CD Release
Yes, for the TurboGrafx CD. Y’know, for all the ways Limited Run gets on my nerves, only they would make something like this happen, so…bless them.
Contra Anniversary Collection — Switch, PS4
All the 8-bit, 16-bit and arcade Contras in one place.
Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties — Switch, PS4
Limited Run has also been reprinting all the cheesy FMV games from the 90s, and I suppose it was inevitable they’d get to this one if they dug far enough into the barrel.
