The main impression of Limited Run Games (which can sometimes be negative) is that they publish stuff in physical form. But they also serve as a literal publisher, distributing some titles in digital as well as physical. Their latest, announced this morning, is Marvel MaXimum Collection, which brings back multiple titles from the 16-bit era that starred Marvel superheroes.
The collection contains X-Men: The Arcade Game, Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge (Genesis and Game Boy), Captain America and the Avengers (SNES), Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage (SNES), Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety (SNES), and Silver Surfer (NES).
Some of the games in this series range from meh to bad, but the X-Men arcade game is going to sell this collection entirely on its own. One unfortunately unauswered question, which the below trailer doesn’t resolve, is if X-Men will have a widescreen mode. The six-player model of the arcade had a double-wide view made from welding two monitors together. LRG mentions six-player support in their list of features, which you NEED widescreen for, so…are they just not showing it?
