Latest Stranger Things 4 Teasers Deliver Two Shockers
As of today, there are TWO new teaser videos for Stranger Things 4. Why two? Because today is what Netflix declared “Stranger Things Day” as it’s the day in 1983 the series officially started in.
The first teaser is the one that tells you what the titles are for the nine episodes of this season, assuming we ever see it. Netflix has done this for every season except the first one, and they don’t provide as many juicy hints as you might think. I remember when the title teaser for Season 2 came out and the only thing fans were able to guess correctly was that “Madmax” was in reference to the new female character.
Watching the video only takes a minute, but if you have less than a minute:
THE HELLFIRE CLUB
VECNA’S CURSE
THE MONSTER AND THE SUPERHERO
DEAR BILLY
THE NINA PROJECT
THE DIVE
THE MASSACRE AT HAWKINS LAB
PAPA
THE PIGGYBACK
Who is Nina? Who or what is a Vecna? What was so dear about Billy anyway? See, guesses are futile.
The shockers come next. Netflix has finally admitted when they plan to finally put this thing out there. “SUMMER 2022” says the tag at the end. THREE YEARS after Season 3! That’s how long everyone has to wait. This season will obviously take place a long time after the previous one, right?
Nope — this brings us to the second shocker. “IN THE SPRING OF 1986, THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES.” That means only six months have passed since the ending of Season 3! Talk about a growth spurt for these kids.
The spring of 1986 was when Halley’s Comet was once again visible from Earth. WAY WAY back when Season 3 came out, I made the prediction that Season 4 would be set in the spring of 1986 because of this event. As time went on, though, I figured they could not possibly do anything where the characters aged in-universe less than a year, if they had obviously aged in the real world way more than a year. Guess the joke’s on me!
The other teaser is more substantial, using actual clips from the season, and it reveals that Ms. Byers moved her family to…..California. All signs pointed to Maine and the Duffers even hinted at it once. So much for the direct Stephen King homages, though we suppose they can do Spielberg homages a lot easier now.
Eleven has settled into new home, but she’s isolated and miserable, especially at school. She’d give anything to see Mike again. And with spring break coming up, she just might get her chance — assuming that brief clip of her screaming as she’s thrown into a van by scientists doesn’t happen first.
Stranger Things 4 hits Netflix in (sigh) the freakin’ summer of 2022.
