Krypton TV Series Casts Lyta Zod for Pilot
It seems that Lyta Zod will be the female lead for the upcoming DC Comics TV series, Krypton. Deadline.com reports that actress Georgina Campbell has been cast in the role of Lyta Zod for the upcoming show, which seems like it will be about the exploits of the planet Kryptons and the Kryptonians before the birth of Kal-El, aka Clark Kent aka Superman, who is the last son of Krypton.
For the new show, it will follow the story of Superman’s grandfather, Seg-El, whose clan House of El becomes ostracized and shamed. Seg-El then fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his world from chaos. In the show show, Lyta Zod is a military soldier and daughter of the general Alura Zod. She apparently has a clandestine and forbidden romance with Seg-El.
The pilot is being written by David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg. The showrunner is Damian Kindler. Colm McCarthy is executive co-producer for the show, and he will direct the pilot, which is being filmed in Serbia.
Currently, the SyFy pilot doesn’t have a series pickup yet. It should be interesting to see who is cast as Seg-El for the series. A Krypton prequel seems like it could be more interesting as a sci-fi premise, even potentially more so than the Gotham TV series.
